First day going ok

Hi, it's the first day on nhs weight loss plan. I've done loads of diets in the past, some of which have shown positive results, but all short-term only. Last year I lost 1stone ready for my 60th birthday in November, I felt great, but have struggled since having put 8lbs back on even though I've been "cutting down". Difference now is that I have a major problem with my hip, not weight related, but means I have been told to rest it and not do my usual walking so I'm doubly worried that I'll be piling it on before too long, hence the fact that I've started this weight loss plan today. Hope I get some good feedback and help along the way🤗

Hello SallyMJ and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum. Well done on taking that first step 😊 You have prooved that you can lose weight in the past, focus on that to help you do it again.

Here are a few suggestions to help you navigate the forum.

The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺

Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for ☺

Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺

The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page ☺

You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask ☺

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too ☺

Best wishes

Anna

Hi and welcome, I was just wondering if maybe you could try swimming as this wouldn't put weight on your hip, I could be totally wrong as I don't know exactly what's wrong with your hip.

I totally gave up on diets about 2 weeks after rejoining here in January, I'm now healthy eating instead and it's working, I've yo-yo dieted for years, I can't stick to a diet that word just makes me want to eat, I haven't cut out any food, I keep an eye on calories but don't obsess over them and am just having, this forum is the best thing to happen to me, the people are amazing, supportive, helpful and always ready with a tip or two

Good luck

Kat xx
