Time to lose the weight!

Been overweight since my two pregnancies and the birth of my two lovely daughters. Was slim before and could eat anything and not gain. As the eldest is now 18 and I have reached the frightening 50 and the menopause, AND the weight is creeping up every year, it's now time to get back into shape! Not feeling confident as - few previous attempts to lose weight have failed, but I suppose I have never tried for long enough. I lose slowly, get disheartened and give up. This time I have set myself a goal of 12 weeks to see how much I can safely lose over that time then I will re-assess... Good luck to me!

Hi Cicciona ,

Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS forum. Have you read our 'Welcome Newbies' post? It's in the Pinned posts area, and is well worth a look - also I would recommend having a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as it's very good and easy to follow. I've found the planning sheets to be extremely helpful in keeping me on track with my healthy eating and exercise.

You can download the plan from the link below:

Do join in with anything you like the look of in the forum, and I would like to wish you all the very best in your 12 week goal. Personally, I've found joining the challenges extremely motivating.

I lose weight slowly and like you, in the past, I would get disheartened and give up now I'm resigned to 'slow' and only about four pounds from my target. It has taken me about 26 weeks to lose a stone but I'm happy with that rate of loss and I'm more confident that I can keep the weight from creeping back on.

Wishing you a great week. :)

Hello and welcome Cicciona 😊

I agree with Angusina about slow and steady weight loss. As we get older it get more difficult but not impossible 😕 I made the decision that I have to eat healthily and smaller portions because I'm worth it and so is my body 😊 But I have to keep a very strict eye on portions unfortunately 😕

Have a read of the links suggested, work out your BMI and target calories, and ask if you have any questions 😊

Best wishes
