Hi, I'm new here. I'm in the 65+ Age group and have spent most of my life trying to lose that elusive last 10lbs. Unfortunately, since retirement that 10lbs has become 30lbs!

I have been on thyroxine for over 40 years due to an under-active thyroid. The dose has been reduced over the years and I am currently on 0.75mg a day.

I am finding it increasingly difficult to lose weight these days, even though I do use MyFitnessPal and have a FitBit to encourage me to walk a bit more. I'm probably not being strict enough with myself.

I know only I can do this, but I'm hoping the motivational stories on here will give me the boost I need.

Hi, and welcome to this very friendly forum. I'm 76 and like you found it increasingly difficult to lose weight after I retired. That was before I found this forum. I've now lost nearly 1.5 stone even though I set off to try for 7lb. With the support of the forum I nevereached the point where I wanted to give up even though progress was slow. Good luck!

Hi wa2un7 and well done on losing 1.5 stone. You have proved it can be done, even if it takes a little longer. I'm going to aim to lose 7lbs to start with and go from there. Thank you for motivating me.

Great! You've nothing to lose by trying. I went 5 weeks before I started to lose and it was the positive encouragement here which kept me on track. Even before the scales showed results my clothes etc were fitting more comfortably and I felt better so those results kept me going as well.😃
