Need of a bit of help and moral support.

Hey there,

I'm completely new to this sort of thing but I am quite down at the moment around my weight and in need of a little support (which is sadly lacking at home).

I have been really trying to loose weight for some months now with almost no joy whatsoever!!!. Having spent weeks eating 1200 - 1400 calories per day paying close attention to sugar, fat etc. I have been working out pretty much every day too burning around 3000 - 4000 calories per week doing a combination of things such as HIIT, Yoga, Swimming, Walking, KettleBells and at least 70 minutes of Karate a week .

I am at my wits end as every week I get on the scales and the needle hasn't budged (or if it does it's in the wrong direction).

It's made all the more harder for me as I have been recently diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME), and Functional Symptoms so I literally need to push myself twice as hard.

I would really appreciate any hints/tips etc that anyone can offer.

Thank you (and I really will try to be a bit more upbeat in future) xx

God that must be so frustrating./

Are you meticulous about recording every bit of food and how do you do it? Do you use an app like MFP?

Does your condition cause problems with your thyroid?

Honestly if you are doing that much activity and watching what you eat, as you say, its beyond hints at what to do and i think you need to consult with your Dr because that insane. It makes no sense at all and your body shouldn't be functioning like this.

And never apologise about venting thats why we have this forum :)

yes it is very frustrating, and I am meticulous and use MFP lol, i'd be lost without it, I log everything even down to cups of tea, and the occasional polo or whatever.

I dont think my condition does cause thyroid problems, I was hecked out for this couple of years back and all was fine, but you're maybe right and I need to get checked again.

In the mean time I'd appreciate any motivation to remain focused and not have a complete blow out!! lol am a woman on the edge!!!

Thanks for taking the time to reply .

Hi Daynac44,

Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS forum. I am wondering if you're eating sufficient calories for your daily needs, as you're doing a lot of exercise, and you seem to be eating very few calories.

Maybe check your recommended calorie range using the NHS BMI calculator - if you look at this link page, it is on the left-hand-side of the page, and you can put in your personal stats (height, current weight, activity levels etc) and it gives you a recommended range of calories to eat within to lose weight at a safe and sustainable rate:

nhs.uk/Livewell/weight-loss...

Also, do have a read of our Welcome Newbie post, which is in the Pinned posts area (top right-hand-side of the homepage). Also, do join in with any Challenges you like the look of, which are also in the Pinned posts area. Maybe join our Monday group weigh-in sessions if you like the idea of a weekly weigh-in.

Good luck with everything.

Lowcal :-)

thank you for the advice, I do find however as I otherwise have quite a sedentary job if I increase calories to more than this then I easily put on weight :( .

Hi daynak

I can totalling relate to your lack of weight loss, as it's the same for me. I keep meticulous records of what I eat and I exercise, and nothing is happening. I've tried changing my level of calorie intake and nothing happens.

It makes you very despondent.

What are we doing wrong??

I've no idea!!!! Surely laws of maths and physics must apply, output is higher than input and nothing moves!! I have had success before doing this the only difference is tyhis time around ive quit smoking!!

maybe we r just freaks of nature?!? I think we should form a group lol 😁 xx

Funny old thing......

I gave up smoking 5 months ago .

I've never put weight on before but 2 years ago I gave up smoking, and put half a stone on. Started smoking again but weight stayed on.

Gave up smoking this time and have put another half a stone on.

Freaky 😜

I'm going to wake up a size 10 too..

Ok maybe a size 12 would be good and even possible if the equations were correct.

Less calories + more exercise = lost weight

Hopefully it will start working for us soon
