Into week 5 and my tastes are really beginning to change. This week I passed over the chance of a chocolate bar 'cos I didn't really fancy it, tonight the children had mini bite chocolate rolls and flapjacks with milk chocolate and I didn't really like the taste - too sickly....

Maybe it is just a habit that we can kick after all!  If you do have a fancy for some chocolate, go for a small amount of some good quality chocolate and hide the rest at the top of a very high cupboard.  If you can say no - then your skin and figure will benefit, so well done!

Hi Motherofboys,

I think it takes a few days for our taste buds to adjust, but it sounds like yours have!!!  That's a good result that you are not keen on the taste anymore, as it will definitely save you calories for healthier foods.

I try to restrict myself to 1 piece of good quality chocolate a day - but I have to admit that I have over-indulged on chocolate over the past couple of days... (an unexpected late present I had in the post) - but I'm 'back on track' again now...  Thank goodness for that!!!  :-)

Hope you are enjoying your week.

Lowcal :-)

Hi motherofboys  I hadn't thought of it before, but you're right it does become easier to resist. I have had the odd nibble, but where my husband's bar of chocolate 'mysteriously' seemed to shrink, it's remained the same size as when he's left it as of late... :-)

It's when you finally realise which chocolate you like and that's the only one you eat.  I thought I liked after eights and Terry's choc orange.  Ate them automatically whenever offered.  Now I pass them on without thinking.  Don't like mint and choc.  Don't like orange and choc.  Still love the raspberry and ginger ones though!  I do have issues about hiding my choc so mine doesn't shrink into everyone else's mouth.  Why do I live in a tall house!  Just thought, none of them like bending down, I could hide anything at the bottom of the cupboards.  Thanks for helping.  Hiding it in my handbag is a bit risky.  Just too available all the time.  Onwards and downwards, Chums.

Hi Venusflytrap  have you ever tried the chocolate with chilli? I was pleasantly surprised and on reflection could argue that it satisfies those sweet and savoury cravings at the same time. Best of all, there's quite a few people who don't like it so it tends to last a bit longer too.  :-)

I'd forgotten about that one.  Although the switch wouldn't work on the others.  While not as chilli addicted as I am, they wouldn't turn it down.

I agree 😊 Your tastes change as the new eating plan becomes a habit 😊 I have noticed fruit tastes really sweet and delicious now 😊

I have also started saying " thank you but sugar doesn't agree with me" when offered, if you say you are trying to cut down you get the "oh go on, one won't  hurt" 😕

I have found that as well.  Also that amounts of food that I would have eaten just a few months ago would make me feel sick now!  Smaller amounts satisfy me and I have a lower capacity for eating really rich foods.  But when I do eat them, I appreciate and enjoy them more.  Good thing really as it's the Battle of the Birthday cake this weekend.  Can't not a have a birthday cake for my stepdaughter (she's turning 11) but there's only so much I can eat before it jeopardizes my progress...  I think the neighbor's teenage sons may very well benefit from the largess this weekend! :)

Good plan with the Birthday cake VickyDLM .  Getting it out of the house always works for me.
