Orlistat going on holiday!

Hi I have lost two stone taking xenical and excercising, am going for two weeks to America for a family wedding, can I take these tablets into the us with me? I have never had to take medication abroad before so not sure how it all works!

Hi Christina. You're normally OK to transport any medication as long as it is a reasonable amount. i.e. not more than you'd be expected to need during your stay...

xenical is available in the US, so you shouldn't have a problem bringing it in. It may even be worth checking CVS or walgreens to see you can buy it there for less than it would cost you to buy it over here...

I used to go to Singapore which has really strict rules about all kinds of medication.  I just used to take the tear off from my prescriptions which listed everything I was on to show that I was taking them officially.  I also took the boxes which showed that they had been dispensed to me, even if I had to flatten them for packing purposes.   And having prepared myself to be asked, I never was!  I always keep medication in my cabin luggage.  So that it and the prescription are in the same place and with me.    I always take the co-codamol I use with me now, as in lots of places in Europe, you cannot buy it over the counter and they don't prescribe it much either.  I have been lectured by a pharmacist, when I needed it and wasn't allowed to have it.
