Holiday Countdown

Booked a holiday and have a 74 day countdown - really would love to loose around 3 stone but know that is unrealistic but 2 lbs a week would be fabulous. Have zero will power and need HELP and SUPPORT. Wish there was a magic pill but I know I need 100% will power and motivation.

Seven pounds off a month suit you? I lost three stone in six months and that's as near to a magic pill as you can get. No slimming clubs or special diet food - it saved me money and it really worked. I went from a size 16 at 12 stone 4 pounds to a size 10 at 9 stone 4 pounds and I've kept it off since April 2013.

Here's your answer youtu.be/W9Aj6hRYg4A and it's called 5:2 or the Fast Diet. It's absolutely brilliant and it really works. You only need your 100% willpower on two non-consecutive days a week.

Please watch the video and then I'm very happy to answer any questions.

I have considered this for a while, am trying to lose weight with my hubby so this could work. If I choose my days carefully. I am concerned bout my blood sugar though, I get quite ill if it drops.

Thanks for the great advice, I will do a bit more research and then maybe give it a go. Congrats on your success, very motivating. I bet you feel great!

Really good advice, that is something I noticed - my graph is very carbs heavy and I am not sure how to reduce that. I am trying to up protein, however I find carbs keep my blood sugar even and I can feel very sick and weak when it drops and carbs do help - I am wondering if it is a craving, or what else I can eat that will keep blood sugar up, I am trying cinnamon on cereal in morning and have heard that can help. thanks for the link, I will look at it. I need a good re think...will let you know how I get on.thanks.

Try to keep you or carbs to the unprocessed, unrefined ones, like potato (sweet or ordinary). Things like breakfast cereals and white bread will spike your insulin and lead to a carb crash. "Low fat" foods are often full of sugar.

Try upping your protein before you lower your carbs, and if you are changing what you eat, take it slowly to give your body a chance to adapt. Start the day with protein if you can.

This site may be some help, but you do not need the amount of protein recommended.

I have had some lovely replies - no magic pill!!! However, I do feel I need to commit to this, and take an imaginary motivational pill every morning....one post recommends taking a starting photo, scary idea, but my daughter did this and kept it on her phone, she looked at it when tempted and she now looks great, maybe I can try that, just as long as no- one finds my phone!

Take photos - side and front - and measurements too. I've had journalists asking me for 'before' photos but of course I deleted any I looked fat in, apart from some selfies in the mirror that I kept on my computer where only I could see them. Unfortunately they were too dark for publication.

Are you diabetic? If you aren't, then you shouldn't have a problem with the diet.

If you missed the original BBC Horizon programme, "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" then it's available now on iPlayer bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b... or if you're outside the UK you can watch it on disclose.tv/action/viewvide...

It's an hour long programme that will change your life as it changed mine!

Hi Kaz, don't think about the whole lot to lose, but just think about the next 7 lbs, that's manageable and you will have a fab holiday, review how you,ve done at the end of each week, and don't be hard on yourself if you don't always have great days, each day counts. God luck!

I find that going to the grocers and buying raspberries and blueberries and then when I want a treat I eat a tub of those, which feels really indulgent, but at the moment costs about £1 and has fewer than 150 calories so way less than any chocolate or cake, to be really helpful. It's yummy, and if you walk to the grocers even better.

I found that lifting weights and stationary biking accelerated my weight loss. I'm losing 1 and 3/4 lbs per week on average. I am 61, 5ft 3 starting weight was 12st 9 lbs, eating 1200/1300 calories daily, 10 weeks later, 11 st 3 lbs, so ramp up your excercise and you could lose at least a st and a half or more, before your hols..
