Gradually creeping back on...

Hi. I'm new to using this site & hope having people who understand around me will help.

A few years back I lost 2 1/2 stone which is brilliant. But over the last 2 years it's been creeping back on.

I do a lot of exercise and am doing my first marathon in a months time and just weighed myself this morning and am horrified .

So I'm using this site on my iPhone and am looking to see how I can sign up for the Wednesday group weigh in

Thanks in advance

Hi Karen-10lbs,

Welcome to the forum.  I'd like to give you a link to the Welcome Newbie thread, which moreless  has put together:

healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Also, you asked about a 'Wednesday group weigh-in' - we don't have one to my knowledge, although some people would weigh-in that day individually.  The group weigh-in is on Mondays, and here is a link to it, incase you would like to participate:

healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh....

You could pop in there to introduce yourself, and you'd be included in this week's stats if you do that, as Hidden  will be doing the stats later in the week.  Alternatively join in on Monday, if that suits you.

If you prefer to weigh-in on Wednesdays though, then please do that - you could always start up a Wednesday weigh-in group - others might like to join that.  I chose Mondays to help to cope with the weekends, and I've been running that group over 3 years, and the Fab 5'ers are a team of really great members who support me with that.

You would be very welcome to join the weigh-in group, if it appeals to you.  If you click on 'follow' and my name, then you'd be automatically notified when the posts are posted - but alternatively the link is always in the 'Events section (right-hand-side of the forum).

Wishing you a great week.

Lowcal :-)

Hi How amazing to be running a marathon.  I expect all the training will really help the weight loss. Although I guess all the training then makes you feel more hungry! Is it worth taking body measurements too so that you can see how much your shape has changed?  Hope you can look at the links in the reply from Lowcal re the Newbie thread and monday weigh-in.  Everyone is so supportive on here I hope you find it helpful.  Good luck for the marathon.

Marathon training will create stronger muscles which may counteract the weight you lose in fat, but the tape measure should show the difference.  Eat plenty of protein to repair your hard-working muscles and to keep you feeling full.  Avoid too much bread which can aggravate fluid retention and eat wholegrain carbohydrates for slow release fuel.  Swimming and cycling are also good calorie burners for when you fancy a change from running.  Good luck on the day!
