34 weeks - liver scan

Hi

Has anyone had experience of having a referral for a liver scan in their 3rd trimester? My consultant referred me so I got a call to book it in next week but the consultant never called me to explain why (I tried to call but just got through to antenatal department who said “just says liver scan” so not a lot of help!) I am hoping to get a letter or a call about it next week but not likely. I had previously have raised ALT levels in a blood test but when they was redone before Christmas there was nothing found then. I had another blood test on Friday morning which is obviously what triggered the ultrasound on the liver. Obviously a bit concerned what they would be looking for and am spending most of my time worrying about it.

Any experiences others have had would be good to hear

A raised ALT could be a reason to get an ultrasound of the liver. I would say your best bet is to call the hospital via their switchboard and ask for the consultant's secretary and ask for a call back to explain things to you.

Thank you, I did that this morning and consultant isnt in today but will hopefully call me back tomorrow. Let’s hope for some more info then.
