Has anyone got experience of where the FL measurement comes up short on their scans? My LG at 20weeks was coming up on FL measurement 1 week behind, 2 weeks behind at my 28w scan and yesterday at a private scan at 32w she is now just under 4 weeks behind. I have an antenatal appointment Monday which just feels so far away and have been worrying myself senseless since last night that there is something really wrong or that she could be diagnosed with skeleton dysplasia.
Her AC and HC measurements are at 31w and I don’t have any concerns on these as they are within the range of normal albeit small.
I'm currently in a similar position. From what I understand the measurement on its own is not that helpful as it depends on the centile that they are measuring at. This is also.dependent on how big you and your partner are (if you're both small.likely.to.habe a smaller baby) You would expect the FL to be extremely low centile with something like skeletal dysplasia. My growth was showing as around 10th centile overall with a short FL. Was having scans basically every 2-3weeks. At 37 weeks suddenly he jumped to 25th centile and stayed there yesterday on repeat scan (40weeks).
There seems to be quite a variation from.one person to another scanning.
I would try and make a list of question for Monday's clinic.
Thank you for your reply. The current percentile is less than 1% moving from less than 5 at 29 weeks and from 25 percentile at 20 weeks. I’m only 5ft 4 and my husband is 5ft 9 so expecting a smaller baby but been less than 1 Percentile is very worrying but her other measurements are just under 1 week and around 25 percentile. Will just see what they say Monday and hope that she has a growth spur. She has been breech all the way through so don’t know if this has any impact but again one I’ll ask Monday. Hope everything goes well for you and your little one.
We had a really short femur measurement at a scan at 31 weeks , it wasn’t even on the chart. It went back up to normal at later scans and he was born healthy x
I’m 32 weeks, my scan earlier this week has femur length at below the 5th percentile where the scan we had 3 weeks ago it was around 20th %. I went into the maternity daycare to ask if I should be worried and she said you’re short so likely baby will be and to not worry.
Replies from other people on this thread have put my mind at rest a bit more though, thank you
Thanks Flora, hopefully is just that and nothing more serious for her 🤞and hope everything goes well for you and your little one
Hi all, update post my scan: my little girl has shown signs of growth and has gone from less than 1 percentile to now 3 percentile. The doctor advised that as she is growing they are not concerned and her weight and other measurements are all good which was a big relief. I’m back in 10 days time so hoping she will have continued to grow. I’m been induced at 38 weeks due to BP issues and age so hopefully over the next 4.5 weeks she gets a growth scan.
sorry I understand this is a post from three years ago. But can I ask you what the outcome was? I’m in the same situation. And am very worried about dwarfism. Thanks a lot in advance.
yes ! Me too ! Had a scan yesterday! Am at 27 weeks , but FML is of 25 weeks so its at 5th percentile and babys weight also less , at 9th percentile ! Worried 😟 and scared
