Only just found out I'm 12 weeks !

Hello All,

After years I have had a surprise pregnancy and just found out last weekend due to pain went to the hospital and I was 11 weeks 4 days.

Long story short still in pain today and struggling to get the maternity bookings team to get me my first appointment and scan booked in as said I have to wait in the same queue as everyone else even if I am already further along. Called doctor and got an appointment today but any advise on getting a scan booked ASAP to put my mind at ease due to previously having a miscarriage and still being in a lot of pain and discomfort ?

If it’s taking a while to get an NHS scan you could get a private one for peace of mind-they are usually around £100 and loads of places do them xx

Thankyou I have been looking into that but I guess it will be the same as my emergency scan I had at the weekend xx

I would advise you have a private scan. I had private scans with baby number 5 as I had some bleeding and pain early on. The person performing the scan was very good, professional, explained everything, I was a detailed print out of his findings, I had a small hematoma that had been bleeding. I was also given print outs of baby.

If you are getting a scan make sure it is a medical trained sonographer who should do a thorough dating scan. Rather than a boutique scanner who will just give you pretty pictures but no medical information.

Did they not get enough information at the scan you had at the hospital?

If you go for a private scan book a reassurance scan as these are usually preformed by qualified sonographers, they will give you a detailed report of all measurements and if they see something that may be wrong they will refer you to EPU. X
