Has anyone ever successfully asked for induction

I'm just wondering if anyone has successfully asked for an induction before 40 weeks. I have severe pain problems, anxiety and bordering on depression again. I'm really struggling with all this and sickness. My Dr put me on painkillers which at 35 weeks I didn't really want to be on due to possible neonatal withdrawal but can't cope otherwise.

Im under consultant due to growth scans who I mentioned this all to and they've have authorised atbthe minimum a sweep at 39 week. Midwives here wont do them toll after 40 without consultant permission. But I was wondering if anyone has asked for an induction at 38 weeks and got one.

I don’t have any experience of this but are you under a perinatal mental health team? If you have really bad anxiety then they would help provide support to you and discuss your wishes about early induction. X

No I'm not consultant put on my notes she was hapoybtondiscuas things after my next scan but that's it.

They do inductions at 38 weeks for medical indications, so I cant see why it wouldn't be a consideration, but of course it's something that would need to be discussed with your team.

I'm under consultant anyway who has said if I wish to discuss more options to get the midwives at my scan review to refer me back to her also got an hour long appointment booked with midwife two days after scan to discuss birth plan.

Hi I am experiencing similar issues - pain, anxiety and depression and I am under the consultant obstetrician and perinatal mental health team. I also have too much fluid and the baby’s growth has slowed down. Because of these reasons plus my mental health I have recently spoken with my consultant about possible induction. She has referred me to the anaesthetist to discuss pain management during labour. Depending on the fluid and baby’s growth (I am having extra scans to monitor) they will induce me at either 38 or 40 weeks. I am nearly 34 weeks but can’t wait to give birth. Hope this helps in some way x

I'm currently 35 + 2. I have another growth scan in a week. Thoughts far he's been doing fine and has put more weight on than they expected. So up till now there's no reason on babies side medically to induce. But I'm so worried my partner works nights half hour away by car one direction the the hospital is half hour away in the opposite direction. My first labour was 11 hour from waters breaking to birth and second was only 4 hours between. I've got an autistic 8 year old which means that dropping a random career on him isn't going to work he needs to know exactly who is coming over which is hard when you don't know when they are going to have to come. Whoever does look after My kids will have to come here as my eldest won't go back to sleep if woken plus if he has school he gets picked up and dropped off from home by transport. I'm panicking over childcare arrangements about me or my partner not getting to hospital on time. And on top of that with my second we only just avoided and emergency c section so im worried about something going wrong again.

Add onto that all my sickness and pain. I'm on codeine as it is by drs orders.

Sounds like you have a lot on your plate. I would have another discussion with your consultant about your issues to see if it possible to have an induction.

I am also experiencing terrible abdominal and back pain so also on codeine but trying not to take too much because of the side effects.

Gonna speak to them.next week as I've only got an open appointment with consultant now so will only see her again if midwife refers me back to her. As the hospital I'm at has midwives review scans in pregnancy assessment centre

I was induced at 37+2 with my first, due to intense pain, the pain got so bad i could hardly walk. At 37 weeks you are considered full term. If you are struggling that much, then beg them to do something. Explain all of your issues, explain that you feel it would be best for your health to be induced. I hope they sort it for you x
