Has anyone ever experienced something similar with their little ones?
For the last year I’ve noticed a slight lump you might call it on my daughter’s temple. It’s rock hard and almost feels like it’s part of her skull. She’s never told me it hurts, she doesn’t get headaches and she doesn’t care if I touch it. I kept telling myself it’s fine however every now and then I notice it and then go into panic mode.
My mum says it could be a lymph node but surely it wouldn’t be hard and up all the time. Someone else said possibly a dermoid cyst. I am contacting her GP tomorrow but just wanted to check I’m not going insane. 🩷

Hi, my daughter has got a very similar looking lump. We went through the GP and got referred to a specialist - they looked at it using an ultrasound machine and said it is a dermoid cyst. They said she’s too young to do anything with it as it would need surgery under general anaesthetic to remove, but it’s harmless and would only need removing if it really bothered her when she’s older. It seems to be becoming less obvious as she grows so we’re hoping that will continue.
I’d definitely get it checked out for peace of mind. All the best!
Thank you for responding. I contacted her GP today and sent some pictures, just waiting on a response now.
My daughter is 2, will be 3 next month. But yes it doesn’t seem to bother her at all! She’s never pointed at it or referred to her head in anyway, it’s just me constantly looking at it 😂
Yes same - it’s never bothered my daughter either. Agree that it’s always the parents who do the worrying! 🤣 All the best with it - hope you get her seen soon and your mind it put at rest
Out of interest is your daughter’s lump hard? And does it move or solid in one place?
I got through to the GP but they won’t see her for another 3 weeks and my anxiety can’t deal with that 😂so I’ve managed to get a video call with a dr Monday morning via our health insurance 🤞🏻
Sorry, I’ve just seen your message. Yes, it’s hard and stays in one place. It is easier to see in person than in photos, but have attached a photo from when she was younger, in case helpful. Hope the GP can refer her for a scan asap and put your mind at rest!
The GP I video called via our health insurance has suggested a benign osteoma. So he’s done a referral to paeds. Our GP has also agreed so just waiting for confirmation and then hopefully see a paediatrician soon x
Hi, just wondering if you found out what is that lump? I found one on my 4 year old and doctor just suggested an X-ray and then by the X-ray said that all looks good. But I do feel the lump and it still worries me.
