How did you arrive at your screen name?

Mollyabigail profile image

Just wondering how everyone arrived at the screen name you chose. It says not to use your real name when you create an account. Bet there are some good tales! Molly(abigail), my heart dog, was sleeping at my feet when I created an account. Let's hear your stories! I am looking forward to many, but especially hairbrain's! 😎

I’ve had mine for a long time. A friend of mine came up with it probably in late 70s or early 80s. My first name is Donnie and last name starts with a D hence Double D. I liked it se much that I had it custom painted on my Harley tanks while I was still able to ride.

God bless all my MS family

Good to slow down long enough to reply. It’s been a crazy year or so. Takes all my energy to stay out of hospital. I fell little over a year ago in June. When I got to emergency room I had a broken ankle in 3 place’s pneumonia and afib. Now it seems every time I go to my cardiologist I’m having a crazy heartbeat and she sends me to emergency room. Then about 3 months ago I totaled my truck. Ran off the road within a mile from lost control and head on with a tree. Sent me into floor stuck between seat and under dash. Guys who lived there didn’t want to but I convinced them to pull me out by my legs. Hospital checked me and nothing was broken but I was beat up and bruised for 3months.since then all my time was spent looking for a truck I can get in and out of by myself. My only problem now is having a rider to get my rollover out for me. I’ve fallen so many time it’s ridiculous. I fell 3 times in one day last week. Neuro just took me off ocrevus and started Kestimpa.

Other than that everything’s been great . Haha how about you.

Sweet! There's more to that story, NorasMom. Tell us about Nora when you have time, please? Or if you care to?

NorasMom profile image
NorasMom in reply toMollyabigail

She was my mother’s favorite grandmother – The jolly, round one who loved to laugh, crocheted elaborate dresses for her granddaughters and their dolls, and always found money to buy dill pickles out of the barrel or get an ice cream sundae at the corner store. She grew up on a farm, the youngest of 12 children born to a Civil War veteran who was married 3 times. She met my great-grandfather while he was still married to someone else, so she arranged to “visit her sister” until he was free, after which they ran across state lines to get married. We don’t think her very strict mother ever knew about that first wife, but they adored each other until the end. Sadly, she died unexpectedly the year before my parents got married, so I never had the chance to meet her.

Oh guurl.. I have lived in rural life for 30 years but the city has been creeping closer.. I have to drive about 40 to 45 minutes one-way four aqua Zumba and aqua barre, but only about 30 to 35 minutes to get to aqua yoga.. I belong to the same gym, but they have different locations with different classes.. it is truly been a lifesaver for me and super helpful in keeping me upright.. it is totally worth the drive. Sometimes I have a driver and sometimes I do it myself. One really good thing is my son lives just 2 miles from the furthest one so I can always go and at his house if needed.

You're more like an old 90s kid!" 🤣

Kit10 profile image
Kit10

Great question.

I was using a tablet borrowed from the hospital I was in at the time, I first joined up for ICUSteps, that's another story, but I may have been mistyping. I tried to sign up as Kit but I don't think it likes 3-letter usernames, so I tried Kit1 and it didn't like that, so I tried Kit10 and it accepted that. I didn't realise it might be read as Kitten for ages, I didn't mean to be called anything that twee.

Why Kit? I've used that as an online name for a while, it's useful to have something that isn't obviously gendered because there's a lot of online sexism. It comes from the fact that my parents told me they would have called me Christopher if I'd been a boy (no scans or gender reveal parties back in the 1960s!) and Kit is a nice short form of Christopher as well as similar to Kate, which for some reason I decided I'd like to have been called.

Mollyabigail profile image

Surely the name goatgal needs little explanation....but here goes. When I chose it, I was missing my small goat herd (rehomed when I had to sell my 20 acre place), It's apt now, again, as three doe kids have come back to me to live out their senior years, In addition to me, Old Woman Farm now has 3 old goats, 4 old hens, 1 old dog and 1 old woman, all of us annoyed by 1 young rooster here at Wobbly Corners.

goatgal profile image

My neighbors on both sides are separated from my rooster by 75 feet of woodland so he doesn't annoy them. But he's not far enough from my bedroom so I hear him every morning from about 3;30 to 7 ish when I go out to let the gang wander with the goats. But roosters can definitely be annoying! I once lived near a rooster whose crow sounded like Happy Birthday! which was a fine way to start every day. Unfortunately this current fellow sounds like a truncated air horn.

My screen name came from my eldest nephew. Back in 1991, when he was 2, my sister was trying to get him to say my first name, but somehow he came up with Newt! This is nothing even remotely close to my actual name!! 😆She tried repeatedly for months and it always came out the same. Eventually, The entire family started calling me Newt and to all of my nieces and nephews I am Aunt Newt.😁 However, I might need to change it soon because I now have a 3-year-old grandson and yes, he's started calling me Grandma Newt! 🤣

We had an old damaged storage “barn” that my whole family just wanted to burn. It was built around 71 or 72 with Masonite siding for my daddy to store cow feed in. When we put our house on the other side of the property we rolled it in on old electric poles for storage. Fast forward about 36 years. I decided I wanted a potting shed. So we replaced siding with some free windows & plexiglass. People at work started picking on me calling it my pot shed. Told my family, so now they call it “Granna’s Pot Shed”😂😂😂. Ironically I’ve never even tried pot. I’ve been out there twice in the last 10 days & been stung by a wasp both times. . Texas is @110 lately.

I chose the name agate for a message board over 20 years ago. It was the name of one of my cats. The cat is long gone now but I've kept the name and use it on any MS forum or message board I join. I've floated around on a number of them over the years and wanted to be consistent.

Interesting! A pet name (like I did). Jimeka is not here, but she says her name is a late pet name too.

Mine is SUNSHINY12. For some reason when people meet me, they almost always call me SUNSHINE. I like it and allow it. There could be so many other things they could call me. lol 😂

Sweet! SunshinY. I used to be sunshiny, then I got old and grumpy. 😅

Mollyabigail, this was a great idea! Loved reading through these. Last year, procrastinator that I am, I almost signed up several times, but was stumped by a good name to use. I really wanted to join the group and thought a good support group would "help me up" figuratively. Then it hit me that I am probably not the only MSer who has uttered "help me up" in the literal sense a thousand times. And my user name was born. I still get a laugh every time I sign on and see it. Take care.

I am so glad your name is not based a particular fall you experienced. So glad you are here, Helpmeup.

Fancy was the name òf the first registered Appaloosa horse that I bred. She was the prettiest leopard appaloosa that I ever saw. I walked around her mama to look at her and the first words out of my mouth were "my, she's fancy"! Well, you guessed it, the name stuck! She passed away about 15 years ago but my husband and I still use combinations of her name in screen names and passwords. The 59 is the year I was born. So there you have my screen name, Fancy59.

Can you post a picture of Fancy, the horse? I would love to see her.

Sure is interesting how everyone came up with theirs. I was a hairdresser & instructor/school owner. With all that hair is on your brain 24/7! Then after 15 + Years of MS rambling through my brain I really am hairbrained. My email has been hairbrain for about 25 years so I thought I would use the KISS method (Keep It Simple Sister) so hairbrain it is.

That's a hoot! And so interesting. You were an instructor. Wow! You should write a book, hairbrain! My mother was a beautician in the 1950's, before she had 3 daughters. Then, she was cutting our hair and doing those stinky "perms", as she called it. I hated "perms." Made you smell funny for a few weeks! 😂

As a new grandpa, my screen name came from that joy. I’m hoping to add to the 1x grandpa status. Come on kids what’s taking you all so long?

Congratulations! Wow, that must be joy! My boys are 37 and 39, married and no kids. I am waiting too! In God's time, I suppose! Thanks for the reply!

Hi Mollyabigail, thanks for the welcome to the club. While new to this chat room, I’ve been a member of the “MS club” since 2004. I just happened upon this chat room when searching for others who were searching for answers when TEVA recommend we dispose of our Autoject 2 devices. Glad to find all you like souls.

It's a great group. We are international! I am in rural Mississippi, and know NOONE else with MS. So glad you are here! See you around!
