G'day, my beloved ms family. Specifically my newbies (newly Diagnosed or lost) members. Break your ms down. Do NOT look at it as an entire cake that has to be eaten in one huge bite. No No NO, make it into smaller more edible pieces. A finger sandwich size perhaps. Take it slowly, trust me You have time, a lifetime most likely, with ONE exception. That is your Disease Modifying Therapy (DMT). Move on this Now and do it with a sense of urgency. Everything I read and see about ms says this is important.
I would suggest Ocrevus, not because they pay me (THEY DO NOT) but because it is the most effective these days. There are 20+ I believe medicines available today. When I started there was ONE. Yes, that long ago. So easy for me. These days there are lots, so if YOU can study and understand all the technical jargon, good luck and study them all. I did the research, asked the doctors and came up with Ocrevus. Believe me, I want the best for YOU. If your personal ms neurologist has an alternate suggestion, feel free to ignore me. I might suggest that in 20 years time, YOU most likely will still have ms, and your neurologist might be nearing retirement age.
Pow that YOU have step 1 done, alow down. Quit smoking, slow down on the drinking, STOP taking illegal drugs. Clean up your diet, with a few less iced bon-bons (a sweet biscuit). Start to be sensible about your life and health. Move, Exercise. Do it at home it is cheaper and a little less intimidating and cheaper than the gym. Teach your children to help YOU. It may teach them well, there is a slight familial role in ms. I notice it skipping a generation or two. so maybe not your children, maybe your grandchildren, but this is merely my observation,
So all in all, slow down. YOU will not get all the answers in one day, this takes time. ms is now with YOU forever. Nove towards the best most fulfilling life that YOU can. Leave a multi-generational tale in your family of your strength, and tenacity. Never, ever give up. Cry if YOU want, that is okay, but never give up. BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN DO MS, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.
