The CDC FINALLY talks about the problem of immunity in the immunocompromised. People on Ocrevus, Rituxan, Kesimpta and similar..take note.

I’ve been complaining about this issue for months! Now finally the CDC is talking about the problem of vaccine efficacy amongst the immunocompromised population. If you are on DMT’s like Ocrevus, Rituxan and Kesimpta, please talk with your medical team and don’t assume that fully vaccinated gives you immunity.

Yes, finally! I’m waiting to hear their decision next week. Booster? Which one? When? What lab to assess immunity? What are you doing?

I don’t know what I’m going to do. I haven’t had specific immunity to Covid tested because as far as I know, the FDA is still not recommending it due to questions of accuracy. All I do know is that my body isn’t rebuilding the CD20 B cells by the 6 month mark and that my immune system is deficient at that same time stamp. Both were tested the day before my last infusion. So with all that, it makes little sense to me to get a booster. It’s not going to bring my immune levels up to the ‘get out of jail free card’ levels that vaccinated people with a normal immune system have.

So what are you on now? If not Ocrevus?

Wellness is my DMT 🤷‍♀️

I see a new Neuro on Wednesday, maybe he has something up his sleeve for an old gal with progressive MS 🤪

My Neurologist recommended that I take hydroxychloroquine rather than recommend a vaccine. I have brain issues other than MS that may have played a role in his decision. FYI.

I took both shots of the vaccine in April and May with no problems. Next month I will be taking my Ocrevous infusion. Everybody is different.

I don’t know who the “they” is that you are referring to but MS experts such as Dr. Boster, Prof. Giovannoni, the NMSS, MSAA, Mayo Clinic, my own MS Neuro, etc. all said to get the vaccine no matter which DMT you are on. The general statement was some immunity is better than none. Before I signed up for the vaccine, I monitored all these sources to see what they recommended.

My neurologist cautioned me against not getting the COVID-19 vaccine while being on Ocrevus. Having 20% efficacy is better than none at all. I like erash and her approach to this wellness DMT. Please let me know how you do. Keep Smiling :-D

Without there being an accurate test to quantify the vaccines efficacy in people on drugs like Ocrevus, I have no clue what immunity I have. And since Ocrevus is doing a great job of killing off my immune system, (per my recent blood tests), I have no idea if I have any Covid immunity at all. It’s so annoying!

Yes, it is, Raingrrl

I had someone stop me at the grocery store to ask why I didn’t get vaccinated because I was wearing a mask. I told them that I was fully vaccinated but only 20% protected, if at all. Busy body plus I should not have responded because it is none of their business! Sheesh 🙄
