Great News For Those on B cell depleters!

If you are moderately or severely immunocompromised due to your DMT like I am, there is great news from the FDA. I’m on Ocrevus, and as I posted before, it is doing what it’s supposed to in killing off my B cells. Without sufficient B cells, you don’t produce antibodies from vaccines. So I have no Covid antibodies and remain at high risk for a bad outcome should I get Covid. I stumbled across AstraZeneca’s efforts to produce an antibody shot for the immunocompromised. I’ve been hoping it would work. And now the FDA has approved it on an emergency basis. I will be talking to my neuro about it at my checkup next month if not sooner.

Not all MS DMT’s are immuncompromising. People seem to get confused about this.

Jesmcd2 …please let us know what your neuro says. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get a response from mine before my January Appt. I also want to see the data. Just because…I’m like that!

I am also on Ocrevus. I emailed my neuro yesterday. She didn't have much info on this new drug. Doesn't know when it would be available to them. She also told me to talk to my PCP.

Thanks. Hadn’t heard.

Thanks O buddy. I have a 1/31 neuro appt. Maybe she will be informed of this by then.

I hope you get good info! Even though it was approved, that doesn’t mean that there is a ready supply distributed nationwide. I haven’t read anything about that yet.
