My doctor called me this morning. He said he knew why I wasn't feeling so good. He said in his words "Your thyroid is in the toilet." I already knew it but needed him to know it. He said my T3 & T4 were below normal. My TSH was also low. The TSH was the kicker, it should be very high if the T3 & T4 are low. That's the one hormone that is supposed to kick the other two into gear. So now he wants one more test at 8 am tomorrow to confirm the low numbers, but I can't go since I will be out of town. Then he suggested Monday. It's supposed to snow Monday. (We don't normally have snow) I guess most of the country is getting a lot of the white stuff. He is going to refer me to an endocrinologist. Boy, I just really wanted to see another doctor. That will make Dr #5. He also wants me to have a bone density test. So does my insurance. The older you get the more tests they want to do. I wonder... are they trying to see if it is feasible to help make people live longer or just...Logan's Run comes to mind. It is kind of scary, the other day I heard someone wants to propose that the tech companies have their own government. They made a movie about that too...Rollerball (the original one was the best)

I am praying for you. Lots of test and new doctors can be so overwhelming. You got it you can handle it.
I think of that movie Logan's Run also!😒 Annnyyywaayyyyy.... I hope you have a wonderful weekend and stay safe and be careful!! 🤗💕🌠
Sorry that so many things are not going well for you! I know our Lord will know who I mean when I add hairbrain4 to my prayers😊🙏 I finally went to my back surgeon this am, x-rays show that spine just above where he did a fusion many years ago that I now have a spinal curvature (Scoliosis) probably because of aggressive arthritis I've had for years. Next an MRI and follow up. I know I won't even consider any kind of surgery until all of this Covid virus is long gone. Take care. Please know we are here for you.
Sorry to hear about your back. I can sympathise tho. I have stenosis & bulging discs in L2-L4. I have had the nerves cauterized which helps with alleviating pain. But God's got this! We just need to believe.🙏
Thank you! Having the nerves cauterized sounds interesting. I have already had 2 surgeries in the L4-5 area. A laminectomy in 1998, then fusion about 2012. I was really surprised looking at the X-rays seeing the curvature. It was a shock, but does explain the pain on my right side.
My pain doc likes doing the cauterizing vs the steroid shots in the spine as they usually only last a few months. Burning the nerves lasts a lot longer. Mine lasted about 18 months. It was a long process cuz my insurance doesn't like paying for it. We had to do a test with basically water to prove it would get rid of the pain. I'm not quite sure how that works but it only lasts for about 24hrs. If it doesn't kill the pain then burning the nerves probably won't either. That's the insurance's view - like they are doctors and know what is good for the patients -NOT.
My personal experience thyroid not that easy to treat. They need to look at optimal ranges vs ranges & your symptoms. Thyroid, hyper or hypo can affect bone density along with myriad other issues. As recently having 2 very painful hip fractures that did not show up on x Ray's now trying to correct so body heals itself. If you are osteopenia or osteoporosis see Lara Pizzorno's Your Bones. Dont take pharma meds, heal from inside. A functional dr maybe able to deal with thyroid better but give it a shot with your endo.
Best wishes on your journey
Thanks. I've had thyroid issues since I was a teen. Its amazing all the things your thyroid controls. I've had trouble the past 4 years trying tip keep T3 T4 & TSH in their appropriate levels. 2 weeks afyer my 1st Ocrevus infusion I endef up in the hospital with thyroid toxicity. We don't know for sure if it was the Ocrevus, steroids or just my thuroid deciding to kick into gear that bumped it up so high & I've been struggling with it ever since. Hopefully the endo will figure it out.
You may just end up on thyroid medicine. I had half mine out in 6th grade and 47 years later the other half developed tumors so the other half came out. I have 1 tiny pill I take every morning an hour before I eat and that's it. Periodically when I'm having blood drawn for some reason or another, they will throw in a thyroid check. After the first couple checks and things were fine my GP took over so I didn't have to stay with the endocrinologist anymore.
Let us know how things go!
I have been on thyroid meds since I was a teen. But for some reason, they aren't helping and the doc doesn't want to raise the dose again without another blood test because I went toxic 2 years ago on Synthroid. It's been crazy the last 2 years. So that's why the Endo doc is next.
Have you ever been put on levothroxine? This is what I take plus several people I know who've had thyroid issues. Might be worth asking about.
Yes, it was terrible. My hair fell out in gobs & I felt terrible all of the time. I can't take the generic Synthroid. I have been on Armour Thyroid with is a natural rather than synthetic thyroid that comes from pigs. It's actually a very old thyroid drug that isn't even on the insurance formulary anymore. It costs me $35 a month. I have used it for years. Then it became unavailable for a while & I switched to levothyroxine which didn't work well. That's what I was on when I had thyroid toxicity right after my first full dose of Ocrevus. If I have to change back to a synthetic I will have to go to Synthroid. I used to take it years ago.
My ex-boyfriend was on a med (not ms) that affected his thyroid to go super low so he had to be taken off the RX he was on and put on something else as well as thyroid meds. Glad other tests are going to be run. Keep us updated.
