OK so I have not even THOUGHT to tell my MS doc but I have never had a sense of smell. Never. Anyone else? Diagnosed at 41 (7 years ago) but too many lesions to count, meaning I had it for decades and did not know I was not normal.

No Sense of Smell
I never loss my sense of smell until four and half years ago when I got stage four throat cancer ♋️ to add to my ms😡 Not only sense of smell but no taste buds anymore. Went four years and now some tastes and smells are returning 🙏. It’s always good to let your neurologist know what’s going on so they also know how to proceed. Hopefully a DMT as soon as possible to slow the ms progression 👍😉 Ken 🐾🐾
I've known for years my sense of smell and taste are less than normal. I think it occurred over the years post diagnosis. No point in time I can recall. I love to cook now since "retiring". I over season everything unintentionally compensating. As long as I use peppers, cumin,....the spicy seasonings sparingly, all's well, otherwise no one else could eat what I make. Nothing bland in my kitchen!
Same with smells. Can barely sense candles, wallflowers,... So when I hear I really like that one, do you? I have to try and remember what they're talking about. If I put my nose in the flame of the candle, I smell it. Otherwise, it's like someone who grew up on a pig farm, what smell?
So, is it M.S. or old age? I know very old people with a keen sense of smell. Oh, you went to such and such today from the smell of my clothes. I'm lucky to smell anything at the source. I guess I could live on a pig farm too?
I remember being 16 driving behind a manure truck...kinda tasted the nastiness in the air but no smell ever in my life. Jason Sudekis from SNL has same issue.
can't smell the sweet weed I smoke either!
Is this recent? That's a covid sign.
No, since I can remember. Like FOREVER.
My MS dr says probably not ms if it is since childhood but you can lose it gradually from MS...So, When they say 'whoever smelt it dealt it', that always worked out well for me. I never smelled a fart or a skunk or a rose or turkey in the oven.
