Hi. Do you agree that it's still unsafe to get a mammogram?
Actually it would not be performed now, it's too hot for me, but eventually. I fear a technician standing close to me, I don't know how it works with other women, but she manoeuvres me to get the image.
I don't want to get close to anyone, apparently possibly forever.
(History of breast cancer, the kind that contained itself, forget the terminology, lumpectomy, and no cancer for three years.)
Thank you.

I had mine done last month. I had to wear a mask. When the Women's Hospital called to tell me what all I had to do for the appointment, I jokingly asked about how I'd have to do to wear a HAZMAT suit--would cutting two holes in it, work?
I can't schedule mine yet (through mychart) as I'm due in Oct for one and the closest they allow is a month before. I plan on having mine done as breast cancer runs in my family. I think that as long as the tech and I are both wearing masks, we should be fine.
I understand the hesitation! I'm not ready to go to the dentist, for instance, because I don't have an urgent need for it. But with your history you have a very good reason to keep on top of this.
I have been pleased so far with the precautions being taken by health-related offices. The closest contact I've had so far was in getting blood drawn, and in those cases the techs wore masks plus face shields. Perhaps you could check with your neurologist for an opinion on your risk factor (your DMT may affect your immune system differently than mine does); and it might set your mind at ease to ask the imaging center what precautions they are taking, specifically for mammograms because they require face-to-face contact.
Even my hair dresser wears a mask now, why would they not? π€ You could call and ask. Maybe look on their website, most places are broadcasting the precautions they are taking and the requirements for coming into a building.
Yes, mine is in one of the best hospitals as well. You have to decide if your are in the risk group for COVID-19. I had an MRI and had a blood test about a month ago, and it was ok.
I had mine in June. They did the typical screen of patients when they come in, brought you in 1 door and you exited a different door. All were gowned, masked, etc. I didn't see anything that made me feel I could get exposed. I felt very safe. (Of course I was masked.)
