Thyroid Toxicity

I have been a roller coaster ride for the past 24 hours! My heart started beating irregular & heart rate at 120 bpm with bp at 169/120. Went to the ER & they couldnt get it leveled out so they sent me by ambulance to Hot Springs heart hospital. After several tests & discussions with doctors they decided that I had thyroid toxicity which was causing my heart to go I to a-fib. The ambulance ride was 81 miles. Not the most fun I have ever had. I kept watching those back doors praying they didn't open & the gerney I was on didn't roll out on the highway. As it turned out the driver was my husbands 2nd cousin (everybody is related to everybody else in small town America). It has been interesting to say the least. Hoping they will let me go home tomorrow. This is only the 3rd time I've stayed in the hospital. The first time I had a baby 46 years ago, the 2nd time was when I was diagnosed with MS 14 years ago & had to get a Solumedral infusion. This hapoened after u went to bed after a long day setting up for the Lioness Lions Club annual diinner/auction fundraiser that we give all the proceeds to local charities. Then i had to help tear down. It was about a 12 hrour day but it was worth it cuz we raised over 12k. As it has turned out it was all a blessing because I found out I was being poisoned. But all is well now. I just want to go home.

I had to do a stress test first. If that didn't go well then they would have done a heart Cath but luckily I passed the stress test. When my thyroid is low I want to eat because energy is low. When thyroid level is normal my weight drops. I have been having a lot of trouble sleeping lately which now I know was also from the thyroid overdose. I see my PVP next week & he will hear about my hospital stay. I don't know if the error was his or his staff because we don't written scripts anymore.

My friend had that but her heart rate went down to 23, the doctors had been treating her for the wrong thyroid condition. We put our trust in doctors and hope that they know best, but at the end of the day, they are only human, like us, and they can make mistakes. Trust in the Lord and He will bring you through, blessings Jimeka 🤗 🌈

You are so right. I love my PCP & he will be devastated knowing what happened. He is a good Christian man & a good doctor but like you said mistakes happen. I'm praising God for being with me through all of this & giving the doctors the wisdom to find the problem.

I am home & doing just fine. I was a little tired since you don't get any rest in the hospital. They wake you up to give you a sleeping pill😂. I actually slept last night. The first time in 2 months. Apparently too much thyroid will keep you awake at night too! I thought I just has insomnia. I have learned another hard lesson. Watch your meds & check to make sure what you are taking is the right dosage. I didn't look up the usual dosage for that med & paid a price for it. Drs are human & can make mistakes. I'm pretty sure it was a typo when he ordered it at the pharmacy. Sometimes progress isn't that great as there is something to be said for a hand written script!😎
