Update. I'm still wiped out from prednisone, and just found out that my potassium level is below normal! Research shows that steroids and diuretics can cause a drop in potassium! That explains this weakness! (I have dropped the diuretic, which I probably did not need anyway, and am keeping watch on BP. Just saw my GP on Friday.) I eat very nutritiously, all the time, but am now concentrating on eating foods with the highest potassium content. Since I would have to eat constantly to obtain much results quickly, I will add a small supplement of potassium to try and get it back as quickly as possible. I already take magnesium supplements and they need to be used together. I can hardly walk from room to room without sitting down! 6 weeks ago, I was going all day long without even lying down! This is so unbelievable and so unnecessary!

Is your doctor not monitoring your potassium himself just to be safe, please ask him how much you should or should not take. Let us know how you get on, sorry for your lack of energy, blessings Jimeka 🤗 🍫
OK, one minor correction. Couldn't get a good potassium supplement without Rx, and druggist could not recommend one OTC. Neither doctor thinks it's bad enough to give a Rx for potassium. So, it's just eat foods high in potassium until it goes away. Nurse at Neuro's office said it could just be MS doing it's thing, compounding the potassium issue. They don't usually give potassium supplement unless it down around 2 or so! I'd be dead at that rate! I see Neuro in April.
I was actually on steroid prendisone when i had my first numbness in july. My potassium was also low and they gave me two potassium pills at the hospital for it. They said i only had to take them that one time.
It would probably be good to start eating more foods higher in potassium on a daily basis. My list according to the highest amounts are baked potato with skin (750mg), halibut, yellowfin tuna, sweet potato with skin, wild coho salmon, swiss chard, lima beans, acorn squash, farmed Atlantic salmon, yogurt, spinach, banana, apricots, fat free milk, cantalope, lentils, pinto beans, tomato sauce, kidney beans, avocado, northern beans, prunes, navy beans, raw spinach, edamame, Pacific cod, tomato paste, pistachios, tomato, butternut squash, peaches, raisins, beets, brussel sprouts, artichoke hearts, orange, apple, grapes (180 mg). Stay well!
