We often speak in our group about keeping our attitudes positive. It is amazing how a positive attitude can actually decrease MS symptoms and make daily life look so much brighter. We all know that fighting this monster is never easy and is never something we look forward to but by becoming negative and frowning all the time and being upset we automatically give the monster a big boost up in front of us.
So we often mention about looking at life like your glass is half-full not half-empty. It takes much less effort to smile than it does to frown. It uses less facial muscles to smile and it is frown. Overall we live life to the fullest when we smile through it and have a positive attitude about the world around us. An easy way to daily remind yourself how good life is around us a small journal and mark it your happiness Journal. So simple to end your day on a good note by simply doing the following exercise.
At the end of each day in your happiness Journal I need you to write three things that made you happy that day. Maybe it was a funny joke that you heard from a friend. Maybe was hearing from two close friends you hadn't heard for a while. Maybe was a stranger on the street who smiled broadly at you. Or perhaps it was somebody, a total stranger, who ran AND got the door for you as you walked in a store or a restaurant. Maybe it was your dog and the play time you shared with him or her on a sunny afternoon. You get my idea the list is endless. You simply have to look for antidotes that made you smile during the day. Once you get used to doing it your list probably won't end before it'll grow and grow. If you go to bed with a smile on your face thinking about the good stuff that happened to you that day I bet you that you'll wake up with that same smile on your face as you anticipate what fun things and happy memories you'll make that day. Look for the good things in life and you will find the good things in life. They are never far away and if you get in a jam and can't seem to find anything happy that happened to you that day simply log into our chat room and read some of our post and our replies. I guarantee our friendship, caring, and our laughter will be contagious! Remember your glass is always half-full! You just have to find things to fill it up and they're all around us if we look!πΆπ΄π»π³π¦π€πππππ.....

Well this is unique I'm replying to my own post! But I wanted to give you an idea what is going in my log for today. Number one I got to go to our lake house today. It is so enjoyable to be that down here during the week watch the lake sit there quietly and reflect all the sunshine off of the ripples. It's just beautiful. Number two I simply have to walk outside and listen to the incredible variety of birds chirping the trees all around the lake. There are so many different ones you cannot separate all the calls from each other sometimes. Number three I'm searching again for today for the Regal bald eagle we have nesting here on the lake. You never have seen such a magnificent site as a bald eagle perched on a branch surveying his or her domain. They are so regal and magnificent creatures and it is a site that I never tire of. One day I'll have my camera with me and get a beautiful picture but so far I haven't been that lucky. Number three I helped another person with MS that I recently met through one of the many MS events I go to locally. She needed help figuring out the schedule of activities coming up for the end of the month. She was so anxious when she called and by the time we got done speaking she was laughing and joking with me. I asked her never get anxious again, but instead just to call me, and we could get lost and confused together but never anxious. That made her laugh all the more and I believe she will be joining the chat room because she really likes the support she's getting from what limited MS communities she has found so far. Number four, I stop by Walmart to grab something for my husband and as always I struggle a little bit getting out of the car . It's mostly a balance issue until I get stood straight up . The Stranger sitting on a pickup truck bed tailgate asked me if I was okay and I replied yes MS is no fun sometimes. He then asked what he could do and he ran over about 20 ft and grab a shopping cart for me and brought it to me so I could use it to balance on it until I got inside the store. Getting help from total strangers without requesting it always makes me smile. The day is only half done so I'm certain I will come up another antidote or two to put in my happiness log.
Good luck everyone and have fun with this activity. If you don't feel well a day don't fight it you don't have to have a happiness log that day but the rest of the week try to do it at least two or three times and see if you don't improve your overall mood and keep your glass half full! Fancy.

This is similar to my gratitude practice with a mental body scan twice a day. A lot has changed in my life since I started that π Writing things down is incredibly therapeutic and I love your idea!
