Let's show the world that being disabled does not take our soul or our kindness away. This Saturday is National Act of Kindness Day and I challenge everyone in this chat room to go out of their way and find someone more disabled than we are and to assist them and every way we can. Along the way if we can pass along a smile to the general population it would also add to the day. Besides it is so much fun, as I can attest to first hand, to smile at complete strangers while I'm hobbling along or in a scooter and to see the dumbfounded look on their face as they try to process my smile. If you ever noticed, there's just not a whole lot of people out there that take the time to smile at strangers. My motto is it takes less muscles in your face to smile then to frown so let's dewrinkle our face and confuse the general population with our dazzling smile!π

I love random acts of kindness! My favorite thing to do is pick up the check of someone eating at the same restaurant. Or leave an extra generous tip for the wait staff.
Qt314grl, it's Fancy1959. I love to pick up the restaurant tab for our service people in uniform. Be it our military, our police, or our firefighters I will pick up their tabs and you should see the look of total astonishment on their face. Because I am not made of money I have to do it one at a time so I try to find the place where just one person is uniform is having lunch with friends Etc. If there is a group of several together I always go out of my way to go shake hands and thank them for their service. I usually do it only at lunch because again I have a tight budget and I make certain that I usually do it only at inexpensive restaurants or fast food type restaurants.
I think your response to the random act of kindness is fantastic. I wish I would have encouraged everyone to lists their ideas for their random act of kindness and perhaps we could expand upon each other's ideas and show the entire chat room how easy it is to accomplish a random act of kindness.
Thatβs great you do that for our servicemen and women and our public servants.
My local coffee house has a cork board where people can post gift cards for others. For example, any teacher can use one up there right now for $25.
Other ideas:
pay off someoneβs layaway at Walmart.
Put money into a parking meter (especially one getting ready to expire).
Move someoneβs trash cans back after trash day.
Tape $1 to vending machine
Let someone go ahead of you in line (grocery store, post office, dmv)
And my personal favorite, drop off or send flowers to a nurses station and tell them to give it to the patient that needs a pick me up the most!!
Wow! What a great and thorough list! Many of your ideas are absolutely free and still gets the message across with the broad smile. I also let people in front of me at the grocery store or store checkout line if they have just an item or two and I've got a bunch. I put trash cans back before also and from time to time I've even put a stray baby horse back. They find ways to wiggle out and if I see them and can work up to them I will take them to the farm main barn and tell them look what I found. I've done it at least twice and people are so grateful when you walk in with their loose critter. I have also picked up dogs that were roaming with collars and I've dropped him off at the Humane Society and sure enough their owners were looking for them. It's fun to think outside the box and come up with unique ideas that make people look at you and smile from ear-to-ear. Thanks for sharing. I hope everyone read your list and become inspired by it too!
Great thoughts! Iβve found that easing someone elseβs burdens seems to lessen my own.
You mean I have to Actually be nice to people?π ON A WEEKEND? ugh!π

Yes, Acts of simple kindness can make someone's day for sure. I've made it a point to smile, greet with a good morning, etc. Last week, even though I was the one with a cane, I held open a door for a man. He was very gracious, said that was a first for him! I just said it was my pleasure and I'm sure he will pass along the courtesy to someone else.
I'm one of those weirdos that helps handicapped people, mom's struggling with kids, and smile and say hello to people. My husband is also πwe will be driving to see family that day, so I'm adding "kindness" to my calendar and we will see what I come up with π
I love this idea! A genuine smile produces positive chemistry in the brain.
Smiles and courtesy is in my blood. Itβs how I was raised. When your dad is a baptist preacher youβd better be courteous to everybody or there wouldnβt be to many smiles when you got home. ππ

To all that responded to my act of kindness day I couldn't be more pleased with the creative and simple ideas you have shared with the community! We still have almost 3 Days To brainstorm so everybody needs to put their thinking cap on and get on this post and come up with more ideas for sure your ideas of how you plan to do a random act of kindness this Saturday. I can't wait to read them. I got to tell you just reading them puts a big smile on my face as well.ππππ
fancy1959 - this is babslover. My husband and I went out to dinner and while I was eating there is an elderly couple just sitting having coffee and I recognize them as we go there every once in a while and I asked my husband if he would pay it forward and by their coffee for them . He went one major step ahead in there is another elderly couple having dinner and my husband went to the waitress and said heβd like to pay it forward for both couples so he bought the coffee and the dinner and he went and shook the hands of the elderly males and said its a new year he just want you to spread some happiness . I always smile even when Iβm using my Walker in somebody might look at me and sometimes I just say I have MS .
