Hello everyone my name is rere and I have had MS since July 2016. I am 21 now and I am studying History in college. I don't know what else to say in terms of introductions but I hope that this community could help me be less anxious about MS and what it means for my future. I do have a question that I can't seem to find the answer too. MS seems to be such a big deal. I know it is I just don't know why, it makes my life harder but why is the world making it this big thing? I really want to know, it will make me understand MS and what is to come better. Thank you, I hope I can find the answer here! -rere
Introductions!: Hello everyone my name is... - My MSAA Community
Introductions!
rereran , Welcome! You have come to a good place. You are only 21 years old and I understand that you are anxious with your MSX, but you cannot let that take center stage of your life! MS affects all of us differently, so no one can tell you what to expect. Get as much information as you can and get on with your life. You only have one life to live!
SueAB hit it on the head. Follow her advice and you’ll be just fine. Welcome and good luck
Welcome! Sorry you are here, and I hope you find what you need. I was 21 when I had my first symptoms and I sometimes I wish I had been offered treatment then. MS is a big deal because there were no effective treatment options until recent years (meaning a destiny of pain and immobility) and there is still no cure. Also, the time frame from relapsing to secondary progressive is as unpredictable as your next relapse, IF either of those things ever happen. More difficult indeed, but as Sue said, MS can't rule you. It does freak people out when you casually mention that you have it. It sounds like your anxiety is about everyone else making it a big thing?
Hi rereran and welcome!😀 I'm glad you have joined us.😊 I hope that we all can help you here.
You are the same age as my youngest daughter, and I'm so sorry about your DX. 😕 MS is so random, and a lot of the time invisible that just saying it worries or even scares people. 😊 And it sounds like it's all still new to you?😀
Like SueAB Royjr and kdali said You can't let it rule you, you learn to live with it.😊
We are Always here for you!💕 So ask away!

Hello rereran and Welcome to our extended family from Fancy1959. This is an awesome chat room and it is full of some of the most caring, compassionate, and kind people I have ever met. You can come and ask questions, voice concerns, or simply speak to others who truly understand.
The first and foremost thing I would like to express to you is that MS follows a different path in life for each and every person who has it. Being diagnosed so young is tough but be positive because there are constantly new therapies coming out for this battles we are all in. They're coming out at a rate never-before-seen and I would guess that in your lifetime there's a big possibility that there will be a cure for MS.
I look forward to getting to know you better so the more your post the quicker we will get to know you and you to know us. Until we speak again take care and make sure you find an MS neurologist, one that specializes in MS, and get on your disease-modifying drugs as it will slow down your disability and disease progression. Please remember we are all in this together and together we are stronger!
I know when I was first diagnosed in 2010, I thought I would lose certain abilities and would lose my job. Every time the MS nurse would call and check on me she would ask if I was still working. I was very depressed, but 8 years later I am still working. Most times the staff I work with don't even notice that I limp or weave sometimes. I know my life can change at any moment because MS can be unpredictable, but my life can change because of anything going on in my life, so I strive to take one day at a time and make the most of it. There will be very hard days to deal with as you already know, but please know that you being thought about and prayed over. Have a great week!
