HI! This is for you believers, and hopefully for you not believers. I found this vs today. Man! How humbling! I need to research just what Paul is talking about as far as disability here. Also, this is a newer translation of the Bible. I have read it in 4 other versions and it does not say it as great as the Message version. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I do! Also, I found it as a note in my phone. Then re read it in the Bible.
Because of the extravagance of those revelations, and so I wouldn’t get a big head, I was given the gift of a handicap to keep me in constant touch with my limitations. Satan’s angel did his best to get me down; what he in fact did was push me to my knees. No danger then of walking around high and mighty! At first I didn’t think of it as a gift, and begged God to remove it. Three times I did that, and then he told me, My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness. Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift. It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on my weakness. Now I take limitations in stride, and with good cheer, these limitations that cut me down to size—abuse, accidents, opposition, bad breaks. I just let Christ take over! And so the weaker I get, the stronger I become.”
2 Corinthians 12:7-10 MSG

Man Rob. That is a powerful revelation. Puts a whole new perspective on things doesn't it. As we get weaker the stronger we become. This is so true. The weaker I get the more I depend on Jesus to carry me when I think i can't make any further. Without him what would i do. Thanks buddy I needed that today. The old devil's been kicking me around the last couple of days. But I know it's a fight that he can't and won't win. I've got a big brother named Jesus and he will protect me they it all. May God be with you.
I have meditated on these verses often. Paul never discloses what his affliction actually is. He says that would take away what the true focus should be. There is lots of theological guessing about what it actually was. I have chosen not to consider the source but his handling of it. It's inspiring!
Maybe it had something to do with falling off that horse?
Although I don't think I would ever "elect" to have MS, one of the upsides has been that it has deepened my faith, and that gift has been priceless. Losing so much taught me how we're absolutely nothing without God.
Wow that is very powerful and very right I have thought and been told when you are down it is like Satan is taking a part of you and winning. But when you stand up against him we are winning. We need to stand strong and don't let him win.
