Hi to all wanted to find out if anyone has experienced what I am going through right now, which is crazy itching of my arms and legs and despite being prescribed a menthol cream (dermacool and antihistamine tablets, is,making no difference. My legs and arms are full of red welts and have broken the skin in several multiple places. Got to say that the rash I now have on parts of my legs looks a lot like pictures I've seen of meningitis rash, but I'm sure you don't get insanely itchy skin with that. Have added a few photos for anyone to look at to see if it helps. I have just been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and not sure if that has any bearing on my situation.
Any thoughts, advice or help most gratefully received.

Im no doctor, however i had the same looking rash on my legs and arms head and trunk.
Look up Hydes disease and polymorphic light eruptions.
I have Hydes disease and the itch and pain was almost unbearable. I couldnt even call it a itch, its more like hundreds of little needles going into the skin at the same time.
I do hope it gets easier, its a horrible thing to have, try not to scratch as this increases the problem, put chilli cream (from doctor) as i found this helped me take my mind of the itching.
Wear gloves in bed and cut your nails right back, the itching is the one to try stop.
I use a herbal moisturiser, from ebay, that i can increase and decrease the cooling menthol
I rub it in and after the initial surge in itching it calms it way down. I also take strong antihistamines however they make me tired.
Speak to your doctor and see what he thinks. Use google on hydes disease and see whwhat you think.
Sorry your going thru this, especially with the cancer diagnosis.
Stay positive, as i say speak to the doctor and get his advise.
Hi, we are now 3 months down the line and as you mentioned statins, it appears they were the culprit and I have been taking antihistamines and corticosteroids ever since and coming off the steroids very slowly by gradually reducing the dosage by 1mg every 2 weeks. I still get itchy but since I've stopped taking statins, it has improved no end, hopefully will get off the steroids without a major flare up again as would like to use my positive thinking and energy to fight my stage 4 lung cancer, diagnosed in September, but isn't behaving like lung cancer normally does, so just keep fighting and hope that chemotherapy can improve the outlook.
