Dermatology appointment

Have just attended a dermatology appointment and despite being told previously my possible diagnosis was lichen planus, the doctor now says he thinks it may be vulval irritant contact dermatitis. He has prescribed me daktacort to be used when needed, dermal 500 as a soap substitute and hydromol ointment which I have used before and it didn't seem to do much.

The worst news is that he wants to do another biopsy which I don't want as the last time I had this done,I ended up with a massive haematoma and a severe infection that was bordering on sepsis,so as you can imagine, I don't want to go through that again. The doctor said he was very surprised that,that happened to me and I was extremely unlucky but that isn't going to stop me worrying and stressing about the chance of it happening again.

Any words of wisdom or reassurance would be most welcome as there seems to be no end to the problems I have had regarding my vaginal area as have just had hysteroscopy done to rule out cervical cancer as had some blood spotting but gynaecologist says I have severe vaginal and cervical atrophy, has done a biopsy but doesn't expect it to show anything abnormal.

Sorry for long post but extremely worried about having another biopsy as terrified the same thing will happen again.

Hi I suggest you have organic flaxseed oil a desertspoon every morning also a strong cod liver oil capsules these will be good for your overall health If you are not comfortable with a biopsy then just say Can I have time to think about that and don't have it

Thanks for reply and advice, do those oils help with vaginal atrophy as that is the thing that's giving me most of my current problems.

Oh my darling what a time you are having. I have to say I am on the same page as lilyofthevalley, ask why another biopsy is needed and say you need some thinking time.

Thanks for reply, when they contact me regarding the biopsy, I will definitely ask if it is absolutely necessary and explain my reasons and ask them to give me some thinking time. Hopefully they won't force me into the procedure.

Dear sobs1962, believe it or not, NHS are supposed to seek informed consent, no forcing allowed!

I probably already knew that but my mental health problems make me overthink everything.
