OCD+ Anxiety= Mental mess

Taboo themes can be challenging to bring up but you’re not alone in having them. OCD can attack anything we value, including things that may be perceived by others as stigmatizing by those who don’t understand how OCD operates, Unfortunately, this can lead to judgments by others or ourselves that aren’t justified. The thoughts from OCD are ego-dystonic which means they go against our values. That’s what makes them so distressing. The good news is that they are just thoughts. Thoughts by themselves don’t have meaning or power unless we attach meaning to them and engage with them. People with unmanaged OCD equate thoughts with action. They believe they may act on those thoughts instead of trusting themselves. Thoughts are just thoughts, they don’t equal actions. Having a thought doesn’t make a person a monster or evil person. It’s just a thought.
