Anyone had this before?

I've been recovered from ocd for a little while now, I was able to conquer false memory ocd along with some other stuff it tried putting in my head to scare me but I'm not allowing it to take anything else away from me.

But I can't lie recently it feels like my own brain is coming up with the intrusive thoughts now, it's like it's so used to ocd saying something it now fills in the gaps by guessing what ocd would've said and I mean I'm glad it's not ocd but it's really annoying still.

Anyone else experienced anything like this?

Are your intrusive thoughts about what OCD would have said causing you distress and preventing you from functioning reasonably well in life? I know it must be annoying, but if they aren't distressing and impairing (2 criteria that define OCD) you shouldn't worry too much about it. Personally, I never experienced something similar to what you describe.

Yes; it can happen. Your Primitive hind brain is your protective part, where your instincts for self- preservations lie. (it's also known as your Lizard brain, or, correctly, your Amygdala).

Sometimes, if it has gotten used to a certain thing in your mind, which then goes away, it will try to replace it; It doesn't realise that you no longer need it. Give it a stern talking to whenever it raises its head, and it will leave, but you may have to do it several times to get back to your peace of mind. (if you live in an apartment or thin walled house, it might be better to get out somewhere no-one is likely to hear you, Preferably where nobody can hear you scream at it, or they might call the guys in white coats!)

I had to do this when I was widowed, and I suddenly one day realised that it was talking to me in the tones of my late abusive husband. So I got angry with it and cussed it out of my brain, and it worked. Had to remind it a few times, but it doesn't raise those things any more. I am much more confident than I used to be.

Cheers, Midori
