I am on Stimuloton in addition to Anafranil. Has anyone had this combination of meds?
I used to take 150 mg of Anafranil daily (with Fluanxol and Siranalen, the latter is no longer used in my therapy), but had to lower the dosage because of the side effects, so I am now on Anafranil - 100 mg daily and 100 mg Stimuloton. And Fluanxol, too. I am yet to experience any improvement. My question is - has anyone else taken those and what were your experiences with the combination. Is it typical to combine tricyclic antidepressants and sertraline?
Thank you for reading.

hi vannpire, I take 100mgs of Anafranil. My doctor added . 5 mg of Rexulti to it. It has helped quite a bit. Rexulti is an antipsychotic. It doesn’t mean you are psychotic.
Hi! It’s difficult to talk about medicines because generally they work differently for each person, and the same therapy that works for one person might not work for another. So, please, do not consider my experience as relevant to your treatment; it is only a way to exchange information because I believe knowledge is power for people with OCD like us.
In 2010, OCD studies were quite disorganized in my country. My first doctor recommended Anafranil (an antidepressant), Risperidone (an antipsychotic, what doesn't mean I was having psichosis, was only to help in sleeping), and even an anticonvulsant. None of them worked. Then the same doctor asked me to replace Anafranil with Fluoxetine, which worked well for 3 months, but then the symptoms returned.
Finally, after several months, I sought another doctor, and he prescribed Sertraline (Zoloft), keeping the Risperidone only for one more month. Within a week, I was already seeing improvement, and after 4 months, my symptoms had reduced by more than 90%. Like I said, it is difficult, but what I recommend is that if you don’t see any results in a few months, try to seek a second opinion.
