not sure my ocd flaring up
It does sound to me as if your OCD is acting up. I believe there may be some therapists on this site who maybe able to help you. Good luck.
Hi. Maybe ask your doctor if they can recommend one.
It's really common to get OCD flare ups - I had one the other week!
One of the many problems with OCD is that it plays havoc with our choices. It makes us doubt our choices, and makes the most trivial choice feel like a massive big deal.
And if something matters to us, then OCD likes to tell us we shouldn't have it.
So if you want to watch wrestling, OCD tells you that you mustn't but must watch a soap instead. It might not sound like a big deal to anyone else, but it's your choice, and OCD tries to stop you.
It's important to go against what OCD is telling you as much as possible. That's how to get over an OCD flare up.
It sounds as though you could do with an appointment with a psychiatrist to go over your medication. Mental health therapists aren't doctors and thus can't prescribe - only doctors can. A GP can certainly prescribe, but doesn't necessarily know the best treatment for OCD - GPs know a little about a lot of different conditions, but a psychiatrist (also a doctor) knows more about just one area - mental health problems.
Thanks for reply I have heard on other forums they say do opposite what mind says I’m am trying but it’s hard I am gonna keep trying and I also found if I watch boxset I like have breaks between seasons like finish season and watch something else for while until you start the next season but my head saying you can’t have a break you got to carry on watching your boxset or something gonna happen to you or family member tomorrow I’m seeing someone reviewing my medication I might she got the power see if she arrange for me see psychiatrist
It’s rough when the waiting lists are so long. I hope the waiting list is for an OCD specialist. OCD can involve some magical thinking which sounds like what you’re experiencing. Logically, what OCD is trying to convince you of doesn’t make sense but logic doesn’t work on OCD. The fear kicks in and takes over. It doesn’t matter if the fear is based on an irrational obsessive thought. There can be a one in a trillion chance of something happening but OCD will keep throwing “what if” questions at us. This is where the ERP comes in. We have to do response prevention to show ourselves that OCD was lying to us.
