Feeling alone

I've been feeling my whole life like I'm feeling and acting in a weird way and that no one could understand it. I thought that I'm supposed to feel anxious, guilty, ashamed and scared 24/7 since I was a child.. Now that I know that I just simply had a disorder It's both easier and harder to go on, because I feel like I'm so close to solving all my problems and at the same time I feel like I wasted and ruined 12 years of my life (which is around half of my life) because of that. Just feeling lonely with it :c I lost all my friends and I have no one to reach out, no one who would understand the way I think..

Now that you identified a problem that you had to contend with for a long time, you're faced with a choice: to lament about the past longer than justified, or to start a new chapter in your life. A word of caution though: getting over OCD won't solve all your problems. OCD-free people have to live with the possibility of making mistakes, which is not always easy, especially if the stakes are high, but the difference is they generally can handle it.

It's a virtuous cycle. If you feel more confident you can face life's challenges, you experience more pleasure in the company of others, and others can also feel it. So, the chances to start satisfying relationships are greater, and your perspectives for the future improve. I wish you the best on that new journey.

I’m sorry it’s been so rough but please know you’re not alone. People in the OCD community understand and can relate to what you’re going through, including the grief. The IOCDF does Community Conversations and Town Hall livestreams on most Tuesdays. They are lead by a lead advocate with the IOCDF and people can interact in the chat if they want to. People can ask the lead advocate questions and chat with each other. It’s at 7:00 Eastern Time which is midnight in the UK. There are people from the UK who participate. Is Poland an hour later in time than the UK? People from several different countries around the globe participate. The livestreams are recorded for later viewing if you can’t catch them live. Midnight is rather late for most people. The livestreams are on various platforms but the recordings are only available on YouTube and Facebook Live. Just type in IOCDF in the platform search bar. You can subscribe to the IOCDF channel on the platform which makes it a bit easier. People have made connections with other people in the chat and really appreciate the support. It’s an awesome community.

I understand how you feel. At 31 I started symptoms of OCD which caused everyday to be a struggle. I tried therapy and different medications with varying results. Then after 14 years my doctor tried Luvox. In six weeks all of my symptoms were gone. It was just that easy. I do think about “wasting “ years of my life sometimes. But, it doesn’t really bother me. I did not waste them. I lived the best life I could with a disorder. I got dealt a bad hand which a lot of people do in life. I am not trying to undermine your pain and suffering. It is real. But, once you feel better you can look to the future and enjoy the present and know you have lived your life the best way possible. Feel free to reach out anytime. We are here for you. You are not alone. There are many people who know exactly what you are going through. Take care and God bless.

Hey I completely understand. I got diagnose with OCD 10 years ago. I knew there was a problem and that something wasn't right. Even when I got diagnosed, I struggled with it accepting it. The term "oh your so OCD" got thrown around a lot. But OCD can take over and consume your whole life. I just now decided to get professional help. But if you allow your OCD to take over your life, then your letting OCD win. It can be the most isolating and debilitating thing at times. The why can't I just let that go or the what ifs consume you. Just know you got to get up and take it one day at a time. Even if you're having a bad day keep going until you find at least one positive thing in your life. Trust me we all know what you're going through. Just know that we are here for you and understand you. You have a friend in me and all of us on this forum. Hang in don't ever give up.
