Hello fellow OCD’ers. I have a question. I’m taking 200mg of Zoloft right now for OCD and just started taking Abilify to supplement it. Does anyone else take this med now or in the past? Did it help with your symptoms? Any help and reviews of this med would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

That's similar to what I take - except my dose of sertraline is 300 mg a day. I also take the aripiprazole (brand name Abilify) to supplement it and boost it at 5 mg a day.

I've found it suits me well. I thought long and hard before starting on aripiprazole because I'd had a bad experience with weight gain with another anti-psychotic called sulpiride, which can be used in a similar way to aripiprazole, that is to boost the effects of an SSRI. I came off it quickly, after gaining 35 pounds! Sulpiride didn't help my OCD anyway.

Aripiprazole is much better - I've described it as being as though colours had regained their brightness - I feel much more like my old self. I had to go without for a short while, as there was a shortage, and I really noticed the difference. Fortunately supplies resumed and I was so pleased to be back on it.

I can't promise that your experience will be the same, as we all have different physiologies and respond to medication in different ways. But it really has helped me.

Hi, thanks for reaching out. Abilify helped out. So, it is probably worth a try. I wanted to run something by you. I worked with a very caring psychiatrist for 13 years. Tried a lot of different medications which had varying results. Unfortunately, he fell ill and had to immediately retire. I had to find a new psychiatrist. The new doctor took me off of everything and started me on a low dose of Luvox which I had never tried before. Within three months all of my symptoms were gone. There’s no doubt in my mind that an unwavering faith in God and the Luvox led me totally out of a very dark place I was in for 13 years. I am writing this in order to give you and everyone reading it that the old saying of everyone is different and reacts to different things differently does get old hearing. And I got tired of hearing that over and over. But, I can vouch that it is exactly true. There are varying degrees of remission. Total remission is possible. Don’t give up. It can happen.
