Repeated, unwanted thoughts

What have any of you found to control these intrusive thoughts?

Everyone gets intrusive thoughts, even people without OCD. People without OCD can easily dismiss them because they don’t attach meaning to them. They essentially treat them like junk mail or spam. We can’t control intrusive thoughts from happening. We can notice them, accept them (acceptance doesn’t equal approval) but not attach meaning to them. When we attach meaning to them, we can get ourselves into trouble. A thought is just a thought, nothing more. Thoughts aren’t facts.

Listening to a meditation they suggest imagining the thoughts flowing down a river. It helps.

Hello DowninilThanksfor reaching out. Your helping me by allowing to get out of myself. Your not alone. I find that if i can learn HOW to Watch and just observe the type of thoughts that i am thinking i am begining to the process of breaking free from that Mental Enslavement . Just by Observing my thoughts i am no longer controled by my thinking

That helps a lot. To just accept the thoughts as they are, only thoughts, not reality.
