Irrational worry.

I'm not deeply religious but I do believe in God and the Christian faith. I just worry that if I upset God or have a flash that he don't exist I worry he's going to give me more patterns in my head or make me be a sick person or make me do sick compulsions. I've been apologising and praying over and over all day. I know God is forgiving and some people don't even believe in him, which I do. I been worried sick that he's going to make me have sick fantasies or do sick things has compulsions. I know I'm not supposed to ask reassurance but I'm worried sick and been self medicating to ease it.

1 Corinthians 14:33 “ God is not a God of confusion but of peace.“

'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. '” — Jeremiah 29:11

Philippians 4:6-7"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Here are the first three verses that come to mind after hearing your post. I know God is not going to make you have thoughts like those since it is not in his character to do so.

God has given you the Holy Spirit as a believer to overcome your flesh and the evil thoughts that try to bring you down. Continue to pray and know God is greater than the devil and has already won because of Jesus Christs death and resurrection for us, to purchase our freedom from death and sin.

Continue to find ways to get scripture into your daily life and find communion with fellow believers.

God bless you and I hope you find these words a little helpful.

Hello Dempsey1919. Are you on medication or seeing a therapist? I have had similar thoughts. This is classic OCD. He is a loving understanding and forgiving God. You sound like you are striving for perfection but we are all human and this is simply not possible.
