Hi, I am new to the group. My 22 yr old son is really struggling right now with the intrusive thoughts. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good online therapist. There are not a lot of options for where he lives currently and he needs someone to talk to quickly.

nocd or finding a therapist here.
Hi, I'm sorry to hear about that. I don't know of any therapists except BetterHelp which you have probably heard about, but I am wondering if you've ever heard about the "maybe, maybe not" approach? If you haven't, you challenge the intrusive thought with that may or may not be true and accept the thought instead of pushing it away. I understand you are looking for a professional but I am hoping to help if I can in any way. I discovered it through a YouTube channel on OCD and Anxiety by Nathan Peterson. I believe he is a licensed social worker but I can't remember for sure. I highly recommend them. Without his videos, I probably would not be in a very good place right now. I really hope you find what you need soon.
I would recommend you go online and buy some books on this subject. 'The Imp of the Mind' is a good book and is a revelation to those who are suffering with intrusive thought. This would helpfully reassure your son that he is normal and that we he is experiencing is down to how his brain is wired. It helped me a lot. I got my book from Amazon. Hope it helps!
Hi my therapist in the past told me 90% of people without ocd,non mental health people also have intruisive thoughts, but where as most people will think where did thar that thought come from the person with ocd will think its true and means something. Tell him every human being has them , they just thoughts which could be from anywhere . If I told him not to think of a door what's first thing that flash into his head. Tell him try to relax bad people dint worry about bad thoughts or doing bad things, jnfact you couldn't get further apart, one likes them the bad person the other repels and gets thierself in a panic. Hope that helps until he gets help. Also bad people dint look for help to stop being a bad person.
look into NOCD. It is an online therapy with trained therapists, support groups, etc. There is a fee, but they do take insurance. You can have a free consultation to ask all your questions. It really is excellent.
go to the IOCDF website and look for therapists there; also check out NOCD
Avoid Better help- it is unethical
