How are you feeling today? What was the best part of your day?

How are you feeling today?
A vey sweet question to ask! Sorry for just only seeing this.
My day (yesterday) was good. Not great, not bad, just good. I found that a project I was stressing over was not due yesterday (as I had thought) but rather due today. It both alleviated my stress, and made me anxious, LOL! Today seems to be a good day, though I am struggling with some triggers.
How are YOU?
Aww! How frustrating, yet relieving at the same time haha I am doing well, overall. My main struggle (which isn't new for me) is getting/keeping the motivation to workout. I should, it's good for me, but I don't really like to haha
Triggers are like an angel and the devil on each shoulder. One is saying, listen to me.....perform these compulsions to "prove" something. The other is saying, this is a great opportunity for ERP and to face your fears. It's all a part of the recovery process, though. One step at a time
Hi! The best part of my day was doing an exposure by going to Barnes & Noble by myself. I bought this journal called "Breathe Escape Journal" created by breathemagazine.com. It has all of these different mindfulness activities in it, accompanied by places to write your thoughts and reflections. I'm looking forward to diving into it and trying to keep my overactive mind preoccupied with something positive.
What was the best part of your day today?
That sounds awesome! I'll definitely check that journal out The best parts of my day today was working from home, with my cats, singing and baking cookies
Thank you MusicalChef for posting an open question that helps us locate the positive in our day! My day has only really begun but I can report that the beautiful way the sun streams through my back windows in the morning makes me feel optimistic. And hello lovelylavender ! I love cats too. We have a Devon Rex who is such an oddball!
Hi KattiK! I had to Google what a Devon Rex is, but it sounds like they're really smart! My cat is a mix of cute, sweet, quirky, and naughty (maybe this is all cats lol). She is relentless about her food being "on time," and smacks my leg as I walk by if she's not fed on schedule. She licks and gives kisses like a dog and loves laying on my stomach when I listen to my meditation app. She can be found digging in my bed, playing with any kind of bag, piece of lint, or shoestring when she's bored--also loves windows, her fake mouse toy, and chasing her own tail. lol Cats sure do bring joy to life, don't they? Feel free to share a cat story. 😊
Gosh I probably have a lot of cat stories. The Devons are a sweet breed and quite like dogs in their behavior. We bought ours from Salt Lake City and had to fly her home. My husband picked her up at the airport from the breeder (not unlike an illicit drug exchange 😀). He had to take her out of the pet carrier when going through the X-ray machine and she climbed onto his shoulders while everyone stopped and stared. I love the sound of your cat - the meditation cuddles - I don't think I'd ever stop meditating! So much personality! Pets are a true comfort when we're feeling anxious or down. Except maybe for my dog who moves to the end of the bed if I'm ever crying - mean! He's actually a dog who acts more like a cat.
Haha I'm sure that you do! Cats are definitely funny creatures! It sounds like her arrival was quite the exchange, but I'm glad she made it safely, minus the few stares from others who were probably just jealous, hehe. As for your dog, maybe he is just...sensitive? It's difficult for him to see you upset is all. 😉 Either way, as you said, animals really are blessings when it comes to anxiety and depression. We are lucky to have them.
You're right...meditation is definitely more enjoyable with the comfort of my cat's warmth and purring. When she's not being feisty, she really is sweet. I hope you had a wonderful Saturday!
I keep on meaning to reply to your kind question. I do try to think of what's gone well or been nice each day.
I buy myself the occasional bunch of flowers - I have a jug full of tulips at the moment and they give me such pleasure. My laburnum tree is out at the moment - it's like golden rain.
I remember that you said your grandmother was brilliant at crochet. Mine, too, and she taught me, though I'm not so good. I'm better at sewing - I've recently completed the top of a patchwork quilt and today I've been using up the remaining little hexagons to make a cushion cover. I enjoy hand sewing as I can pick it up and put it down when I like.
I do also use a machine. I inherited my grandmother's sewing machine - already second hand when she was given it as a wedding present, I think it must be over 120 years old - a real antique and still goes well. I prefer it to a modern electric one.
I think music is great therapy - I listen a lot to it. It must be so great to be able to sing - it's supposed to be therapeutic. I'm afraid I sound less musical than the cats in Rossini's cats' chorus! I'm sure that your cats aren't as bad.
Hello everyone!! I'm hopping on here late but I just now saw this!! I'm feeling pretty good today! I got up early to go to the gym, which always make me feel good! I just recently started going. Its been a dream of mine to do strength training and only recently got up the courage to actually do it and it makes me feel so good! I feel like it makes me a better person for those around me as well. Then I went to work and had a pretty good day. I have hilarious coworkers. They make my work days so much fun! Funny story from my day 🙈 I was mixing up pie dough in the big mixer at work and it was turned on way too high and it sent flour flying everywhere. All over me and everything around it. Oh my goodness it was funny but also kinda embarrassing 😳 😆😅
Hope everyone had an amazing day as well! Remember what amazing human beings each of you are! You got this 💪 ❤
