A little Self-Compassion on #WellnessWednesday

The holiday season is in full swing for many of us and it can be such a stressful time.

Here is a gentle reminder that you are worthy of self-compassion during this time and all the time.

Shame and guilt are things that I've often experienced along with my OCD. I feel bad for having intrusive thoughts and carrying out compulsions. I feel bad for what my thoughts are. I feel bad for needing therapy and not being "normal". My inner self-critical voice starts up and the next thing I know I'm down a rabbit hole ruminating on how awful I am because of my OCD. This is something I'm particularly vulnerable to when I'm already stressed. Yup! Even during the holidays I can get stressed and start up these ruminations.

I can't always stop the shame and guilt that OCD brings or fully prevent myself from doing compulsions, but what I can do is offer myself loving kindness regardless.

I hope you have a lovely week and remember to offer yourself self-compassion as you are most certainly worthy.
