A Quick Intro-Hello Everyone 😊

Hi there!

I’m sure you’ve noticed me popping in and out and I just realized I haven’t properly introduced myself.

My name is Alexandra, but everyone calls me Alex. I have had OCD since I was six years old, but didn’t receive formal OCD treatment until I was in my thirties. My themes switch around a lot and I have many. I also have Major Depressive Disorder, PTSD and complex trauma. I’m just a ball of fun!

On the lighter side of things I’m married to a wonderful man, have a beautiful almost three year old son and a sweet cranky old rescue pup. I love all things Psychology, reading, drawing and video games. I also love to run.

I’m a first generation Latina living in the US but I hope to live on my home island of Puerto Rico one day!

I’ve been in active treatment for OCD for about 8-9 years. My therapist uses ERP and ACT. I’ve also been in treatment for trauma for close to a year. I’m very interested in how OCD and trauma intersect.

I love this community and how welcoming everyone has been. I used to feel like I was alone until I found the online OCD community. Peer support has been a game-changer for me in terms of my recovery. It really has helped with shame and my self-esteem.

I hope to learn and grow right along with you. We’re all on this OCD journey together.

Glad you are getting some support here! Thanks for sharing your story. I enjoy running too, and our family also has a rescue pup. She's a bit anxious and high-strung, so we get along well 🙂

Hello Alex! I'm also latin and was born in Colombia. I've had OCD since I was little and now I'm 56 years old.

I hope you find the support you need on this website. Its helpful for me to hear about other peoples struggles on here to assure me that others have the same ocd themes I have. That this is just not me but the illness!
