First off I HATE ocd. And my heart goes out to you if you battle OCD. I deal with contamination OCD harm OCD. I have had it for years. But lately I have had good success the last month or so battling it. I dealt with OCD for a long time. My question is. I started taking a medication. And feel like it's had good success. But lately I feel like my legs are stuck to the ground and it's hard to move. And it's hard for me to hold certain things in certain ways. Like a stack of paperwork. Sometimes I feel like I can't get my hands to work. I know how OCD works. It changes themes. And OCD works in mysterious ways . Does it sound like OCD to you. Does anyone else deal with this?

Hi Drake,

Firstly, I HATE OCD too!

Have you spoken to a doctor about this?

What you say is true, OCD can change themes. Alot of my OCD centres around health worries so I speak with some personal experience. On the whole, OCD doesn't necessarily cause the symptoms but impacts how we interpret them.

I suffer from migraines, my OCD used to tell me it was a brain tumour and I'd have to check all other things for signs that I did/didn't have a brain tumour. The OCD made me completely misinterpret something harmless but it didn't actually cause the headache, if that makes sense.

In your case, I think it would be unlikely that OCD would cause those things to happen, it might make you more concerned or worry more than you need to but probably isn't the cause.

Did this start shortly after starting your medication? I wonder whether it might be a side effect.

I think, in this instance, checking in with a doctor is advisable because there might be an underlying cause - not necessarily anything "bad" but something they can treat. It would also be good to know if this is actually a new theme to your OCD because then you can work towards managing that in the same way you have your other OCD fears (well done for that, by the way, takes alot of courage and hard work to overcome OCD)

When you suffer with OCD it can be so hard to tell sometimes what is real and what isn't, can't it?

Take care,

Eleanor
