My OCD keeps demanding I do things like put a lot of laundry detergent / soap / shampoo on my body & never rinse it off. It's finding ways to hijack recovery. The motto of my OCD right now is "If it bothers you, do it." And I'm not talking about if it bothers my OCD, I'm talking about in general, if it bothers you do it.
It's creating a lot of extra problems beyond the initial obsessions, always demanding I do more than just sit with the current obsession & not do the compulsion.
I'm currently worried that I've put a lot of laundry detergent on my hair/body on purpose because my mind told me to do it as an "exposure" and I can't remember if I have or not. I'm very anxious and not sure how to ride this out. I've been sitting with this for a couple days now & still feel super anxious.

I am sorry that you are going through a rough time.
I suffer from OCD in which it dictates what I should do, and creates lots of anxiety.
It gives urges to do things.
You are sitting with the anxiety.
It is high in the beginning.
Resist the urges of OCD.
Accept the thoughts as they come.
Do not interact with them.
They will lose power and fade away.
Now, you can lablel it as an OCD thought, and put it away in an OCD box.
The OCD box represents that the OCD thought is gone and put away.
I know this is not easy.
I am struggling with these techniques on a daily basis.
