I had a bone marrow biopsy more than a year ago and was really surprised how little it hurt and how few after effects there were. Only after effects were slight pain for about 24 hours may be worth asking your consultant what he thinks if its still causing problems in a few weeks. As the needle has entered the bone may take some time to heal but this is just a thought.
Hi, while it wasn't an experience I would like to repeat (I can still tell you where the needle went in 8.5 years ago!!!), I didn't have any after effects. Very painful at the time but...
Hi Jo. I have had two in the last three weeks (7th and 14th Jan) the first one has settled down now the second one is still a little tender and sensitive especially when I roll over the area. Past biopsys have settled down after a week or two. Hope this helps.
Hi Jo Hope you're feeling more comfortable. Not a pleasant procedure. I experienced similar symptons as NewBloom actually. If it does not clear, or your worried, ask your GP to have a look maybe?
Thanks to everyone who repliedto my question, it really does make a huge difference to be able to draw on the experience of others.
I'm glad to be able to report that the BMB site is feeling much better now. The lumps have all but gone and it's now only very slightly sensitive every so often.
hope you don't mind me jumping in on this. I had my first BMB on Wednesday which was tricky. I have some mild weeping / bleeding. not enough to go through a plaster but it is still like that now. Do you think I should get it checked out?
