Hernia of the spleen

Hi, I just wondered if anyone else has been diagnosed with a hernia of the spleen. I had an ultrasound a few months ago and everything seemed fine. In the last few weeks I’ve had a lot of pain under and down from ribs on the left hand side, then a small lump has appeared.

My gp diagnosed a hernia of the spleen said I had the option to leave it just now, as he does not think it is serious at this stage or he could refer me. Of course I said - I’ll leave it just now. When I came home, my husband gave me a row, saying I should go and get it checked by a consultant but I’m so fed up of hospitals, etc, etc.

It has been more painful today, especially when I take a deep breath in, so I think my hubby will win and I’ll phone my gp on Monday and ask him to do the referral. I just wondered if anyone else has had the same problem?

Thank you, kindest regards Aime 😻

Sorry to hear this Aime, I can’t help I’m afraid, but I think hubby is right, you should get it checked with by a consultant.

I know how you feel about hospitals etc, I’m in a similar position. I’m good at giving advice to others, not so good to follow it myself. 😂

Best wishes

Judy 💐

Dear Aime I would second that I had an infarction of the spleen a few years ago and the main symptom was pain you need to have it checked Angela

Thank you both. I know what you’re saying is sensible and I know I’m being stubborn but will take your advice and will stop hubby nagging (I know he cares). I will phone GP on Monday and ask him to forward the referral. Hope you are both as well as you can be.Kindest regards Aime xx😻😻

Hi, not heard of it but yes I agree with hubby on this one, don't think can be left esp. if breathing is difficult.. Wishing you the best.

Hello Aime - glad to hear you are going to ask for a referral - agree with your other posts that having things checked out would be sensible (know exactly what you mean about wanting to steer clear of hospitals - I had to go in recently for a urology referral but was surprised and relieved at the precautions in place for outpatients) hopefully you will get seen without too much wait.

Very best Anne-Marie x

Hi Aime ,Been thinking about you ,wondering how you got on re spleen.Every time I feed the dogs and add their joint supplement I tell myself I will mail you.Its called Arthrose Green made by cd Vet.cdVet.

There are instructions in English as well so they must send to UK.

Hope you are feeling better now, must say I have done too much lately & the spleen area is painful, think we have to be careful of that area.😍😻

Look after yourself Sally. I’m waiting on my scan with the consultant radiologist. I’ve still got my lump and pain, more an ache just now. My GP doesn’t think it’s anything serious but with our histories of too many cells, I want to get it checked out! You take care, Aime xx😻😻
