Has anyone who has Myelofibrosis (JAK-2 -ve) had dealings with TIA's and how many have you had and how often. My consultant thinks I may have had a TIA. a couple of days ago after the following symptoms: Diziness, staggering, blackout (for less that a second or two) but managed to keep standing, very hot from neck up and numb-ish. Any comments welcome

Hello Dave I have PV (JAK 2 +) Last February I had what I presume were 2 TIAs The first lasted 20 min with double vision and a subsequent numb jaw. The second, a few weeks later, lasted but a few seconds, but with the same symptoms. I have tried to do everything I can think of to reduce the chance of the TIAs recurring, but the local transport authorities are still reluctant to renew my public bus driving licence. I gather that the symptoms one experiences are dependant on which part of the brain the TIA happens in. Regards hackett

Thanks for you response, I think that as this is my first and my consultant is not unduly worried I shall just have to wait and see how it goes. At what point would I have to inform DVLA I don't know. I have been told its up to my doctor so i'lll post that question next time it happens.

Yes, I have post

ET MF and have had several possible TIAs. Brain scan has revealed several ischemic areas but my symptoms have been mostly involving a weak left arm. Can be brief or lasting several hours. The first time I,too, lost balance but didn't fall. I now take aspirin and dipyridamole to reduce risk of further events.

I have ET and suffered 4 TIAs .I had one last Sunday lasted about 5 mins ,dizziness and nausea. My left arm is still weak from last years one . I fell over and lost my speech for about an hour and had weakness down left side. I m insulin diabetic though , i cant be sure its the ET or not.I dont remember much but my wife and family said it was pretty scary.. I am sure its the ET because it was about the time i was diagnosed..
