Since Feb 2024 I have been taking low dose soluble, effervescent aspirin (Upsarin -C) instead of enteric coated type.As per my hematologist there is no difference in the impact to the GI, however I still believe the soluble one would be reducing the bleeding risk. To avoid the bubbles, I drink the aspirin at least an hour after I drop it in the glass of water.
I have no GI issues with both aspirin types, so I cannot compare them in anything else.
Any sharing of your opinion, experience or known doctor advice re soluble vs enteric coated aspirin will be appreciated.
Stay positive and healthy 😊

I have used both the enteric and chewable low dose aspirins as well as the new Vazalore forumation. I have not found any difference. I would think that some people are more sensitive to aspirin and may relative differently to the different formations.
I had issues taking aspirin and cardiologist changed me to clopidogrel. I take 1 low dose a day. no problems. I was taking enteric coated low dose aspirin.
I had to have the gastric coated aspirin always as have long term gastric problems. Ordinary or soluble types give me pain & soreness . The gastric ones work perfectly but from personal experience I cannot take others. Hence if you do not suffer previously from gastric problems then it doesn’t effect you 👌
I’ve been on daily 75mg aspirin for 21 years and have digestive issues since the removal of my gallbladder 20 years ago, so I take the enteric coated aspirin as a precaution.
My haematologist tells me it works just as well as the non coated aspirin, so it doesn’t seem worth taking the risk of GI problems.
I have taken the dispersible aspirin for nine years, I think I am in the minority. My GP at the time mentioned the bioavailability of dispersible aspirin was better than enteric coated, and I had read similar. I based my decision on that with the knowledge if it didn’t agree I would change to enteric coated.
I really must stress here that I have no gastric issues. I count myself really lucky when I read about the many people affected by gastric issues related to medication on the forum. I don’t take any proton pump inhibitors either. I do however take dispersible aspirin on a full stomach.
When I was first prescribed aspirin, it was the soluble form. I seem to remember that the instruction was to drink before the fizz subsided, possibly because the drug would settle to the bottom of the glass and stick there? I found it such a faff that I asked to change to a normal tablet, which they did with no question, and it has been fine.
I take the soluble type just after eating my breakfast. I swallow it whole with a glass of water the same as I would an enteric coated one. My pharmacist advised that it doesn’t need to be dissolved. I have had no digestive issues.
