Enteric coated aspirin

Apparently there is a real problem getting low dose enteric coated aspirin. The coating is made in China and because of Coronavirus, none is being made or shipped. I have tried my normal chemist and the internet.

Has anyone else found this or a supply?

I know many of us take this, so it could be a serious problem.

I'm not surprised. I've seen on the news that China makes 97% of the worlds meds so it's possible in the near future we will be seeing a lot of this.

Hello Stephen - well that explains it!! I’ve not been able to get mine off the shelf for the last month - I have never bothered requesting them on prescription but buy my local weldrakes own brand - have been lucky as they know me so well the pharmacist allowed me to buy from their dispensary supply - I will have to find a ‘plan b’ when they run out! Good luck with your search. Anne-Marie.

Hey Stephen...

I just replaced mine a few day ago here 'Down Under' and I now have enough for Six (6) months...

There seemed to be plenty on the shelf, and if you really do get stuck... (?)

I could obtain some and mail it to you in the UK...

Best wishes

Steve

I couldn't find any either. But they had the dispersible ones so I decided to take these until I can get more of the coated ones.

I bought 81mg aspirin on Ebay under the brand name Kirkland, manufactured in USA. It has 365 tablets in a bottle and is very cheap but does not make any claims of being enteric coated.

Thanks for the heads up! I actually bought a pack yesterday in Boots (UK). I was asked how many packs I wanted and said ‘Oh just one’. Clearly out of the loop!!!

I was very relieved to find packs of 56 enteric-coated 75mg aspirin in my local Boots yesterday as no one else seems to have any. So I'm sorted for the immediate future but they had very few left.

Hi Stephan , If you really get stuck over having to take ordinary aspirin, it might help you by taking them with food and a drink, I have to take a lot of meds and don't get any gut burning problems. Hope this idea helps.

Thanks to all - pleased its not just me. I have found some enteric coated on Ebay - 81mg, which my Haemo says will be ok.

I can't take dispersible asprin as it really upsets my stomach.

My Haemo is writing to my doctor to suggest Clopidogrel as an alternative. This used to be very expensive so not liked by GPs, but apparently is now much cheaper.

Thanks for kind suggestion of support from the antipodes - hopefully not needed. Perhaps could return the favour with toilet rolls, from what we are hearing! What strange times we are living in!

I was able to order St. Joseph's 81mg enteric coated aspirin from Amazon (United States.) I sometimes order from Amazon.UK so you all might want to check. The bottle with 365 tablets is $12.

I always try to keep stocked up 3-4 months on my aspirin and Anagrelid. Things like this happen with meds all the time.
