Direct Antiglobulin Test

I have recently had conversations with my Clinical Nurse Specialist about blood tests I have had in the last week. I was advised to take Folic Acid for several days with a follow up blood test. Not particularly sure why. I have my blood tests at my GP surgery so I get sent a list of what the consultant requires. When I received this there was a scary red form and under the heading Blood TransfusionTests/Requirements there was a request for a Direct Antiglobulin Test. The reason for the request was listed as MDS. I have no idea what all this means so I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
