hi I’m new to the group, I wondered if insurance companies pay out on ordinary insurance if you have blood cancer (ET)

Evening Caravan 24. If you have critical life insurance included in the policy, it's worth putting in a claim, Scottish provident paid out on mine. Take care.

hi Caravan-24, it will depend on the clauses etc in your policy, best to check with the company. Maz

I've dealt with life insurance in the US. If you already have it and die for any reason it will pay the insured value. If you apply after an MPN Dx it is likely hard to get a new policy at any reasonable rate. I got renewed by some sort of roll over from my pre-Dx policy that was expiring but it was costly.

Interesting detail: Sometimes one can shop the policy to investors who may bet on the insured dying early and pay cash for that bet. (I don't understand details, my business partner does this stuff)

Why other MPNs care now is that we failed to get a bid because MPN treatment has been seen to improve greatly just as we tried selling it. So my life bet is too positive to get any bids. Likely this is specifically from the recent developments with IFN and Rux.

My much nastier Sjogren's didn't work out either, Sjo is just for suffering, not dying. So no free money.
