Hi, I’ve been taking 500mg daily for 1 month now. I’m wondering if it’s ok to use any hair dye without proxide or is pure organic best?

it is advisable to carry out a patch test as per the instructions on whichever hair dye you use.

Thank you for your reply Mazcd. I will speak to my hairdresser about a patch test, just wasn’t sure if I should continue with usual salon dye or use pure organic

organic is probably better for your hair generally, so I would opt for that.

I also wondered about this. Does anybody know if henna is OK?

I’ve always used hair dye. Didn’t realise you could get an organic one. My hair line is receding and I hate it. So I’m interested in an organic product. I’ll google now. Thanks

Hi, I'm taking peginterferon and my hairdresser is using tints rather than colour dye to highlight. My hair is OK, so far. She uses a treatment which is added to the tint, then I have the treatment left on my hair for 10 mins after the foils are removed and then washed. I'm sure your hairdresser will be able to help, but if not, message me, and I can ask what the treatment is, for you. My hairdresser as also given me something to put on my hair to encourage hair growth but so far, I've not need this.I hope all goes well for you xx

Oh... I didnt even realise that hair dye could be a problem. I currently only take asprin for my Jak2, until I turn 60 then at that point I will go onto one of the avaiable drugs. Do the drugs affect hair loss? Feeling a bit worried now... eek!

my hair got really thin and was falling out after a few months of going on hydroxycarbamide chemo capsules

But it seems to have settled down now

I dye my hair every 6/8 weeks using L’Oréal

H dye, I was buying expensive hair loss shampoo which made no difference so I just use ordinary shop bought items now

Hi. I’ve been on Hydroxy for 3 years (2 a day) and I’ve carried on with my tint L’Oréal Preference. The only thing I noticed is the shade doesn’t stay long..it fades quickly. Good luck!

that’s what I use too, the non permanent one. I agree it fades too fast but that may be because my hair is so much greyer now. I have had no problems with it and have used it for years.

Hi, I have to take 3 x 500mg Hydroxide daily, was concerned about hair dye. Have done at hairdressers but no problems and probably been dying it and having meds for at least 6 years, it is advisable as Mazcd says to take care and do patch test etc. Good luck, any help we can do to look good is always a boost.

Hi, I'm on Hydroxide 500mg daily. I use Semi Permanent No Ammonia dye that lasts 24 washes. I have no problems. The colour seems to stay in longer than indicated, so I just do roots every couple of months. I do the allergy test before every application.

I color my hair every 10 weeks. I am also on hydroxy. I have had absolutely no problems at all. I take Biotin 5000mg daily. It makes for strong hair and nails!

I have highlights (lots) done via foils. I have two different colours, patch tests done first. I’ve always had a sensitive scalp but I’ve been fine with this method. The darker colours fade quickly though, showing my natural highlights (grey!)
